Buchholz was our future ace just a few years ago' date=' I'm sure there were some absurd deals Theo turned down for him.[/quote']

I think its a bit early to make judgements on whether we made the right choice on buchholz. He's only been a full starter for 2 years as he was great in one with another good one cut short by injury. We have to give it another year or so if you ask me.

But I remember the twins were asking jacoby and lester for Johan. Imagine if we'd made that trade. That'd have sucked.

"Shortstop Jed Lowrie, who has played with Buchholz in Pawtucket while rehabbing this season, remembers when his name came up in trade talks for another big time pitcher in 2007: Johan Santana."

"If the Sox were to trade for the Cy Young Award-winning Halladay, the package might have to include prized prospect Clay Buchholz."

Woe is me.. Imagine a rotation of Halladay, Santana, Dice-K, Beckett, and Lester

You ever hear of a small sample size?

Its not a small sample size any longer, sorry bud.

The sample size is September of last year, and April this year....and the results have not been good.

He's a good pitcher, I just don't think he's a good fit in the AL East. He could pull an Ian Kennedy and flourish in the NL West tho.

That trade I might've made.

Why? It isn't like he hasn't had any success here. He was excellent in 2010 and had a good year last year before his back gave out on him. He's off to a s***** start but it's only May.

You can't compare last September to this year. Far too different from each other. That's reaching.

The Red Sox had 2 different packages on the table for Johan-- one included Lester and the other included Ellsbury. When the Yankees dropped out of the bidding both packages were taken off the table and no other offers were made. When you look at the crap that the Twins got for Johan, we could have topped that easily without sacrificing the future.

Who would you have given them if it were your decision?

Buch is a good pitcher....it seems to me that his body let him down as he started to move up the ranks of pitchers.....tried to add the weight figuring that would help him and that backfired.

Imagine having that FB, all that promise and just not able to maintain it? I will never think about Buch in terms of some sort of trash pitcher or something like that. He has deserved better. I actually do hope he gets out of the AL East because I think he will have a fine career in the NL for example where he won't have to bring an A game every time out.

You are just desperate to find reasons to be negative. This year and last year are under far different circumstances. A slow start to this year doesn't equate us with last years collapse, we went 7-20 last September. That's an aberation. You think we're that bad?

Think it's worth mentioning that Rivera was just carted off in kansas city after hurting his knee shagging flies.

That sucks.

I like Rivera. I hate the Yankees, but respect the s*** out of their history...I never wish bad upon Jeter or Rivera.

A-Rod on the other hand......

Few people I wish injury on but if this helps our cause then so be it.

Its negative. Correct. Doesnt mean its false.

I dont need to "find reasons" to criticize them. All you have to do is watch them play.

And as far as "different circumstances", weve already covered that.....that is correct as well. Last years team was much better.

The 1975 team probably had more talent than the 2004 team. Which one won the world series?

This team is talented and it's too early to pull the plug as you've done. We've won 7 of 10 and we ran into a team with good pitching and had a couple rough nights. Wait until the end of May at least to jump ship because the talent is here to make a run.

2004 had far superior pitching.
