I am sure Aviles is a good hitter....he makes his money with his bat. I just think the overall impact will not be as good as he has shown so far. He does have defensive deficiencies that have already shown up a bit so far this season and we will see more of those. Some of them will show at points when they cost us dearly at times. SS is not a position where you can hide. It would really help if he had Middlebrooks next to him instead of Youk. He will be a very good hitter all year I suspect maybe just not at the peak level he is at right now.

Yankoffs let Montero go' date=' Iggy is not our future. Get while the gettin' is good.[/quote']

Montero had no future with the Yankees, and they managed to get a pretty good pitcher for him. Montero is a DH; so will AROD be in a couple of years. If we could get a pitcher like Pineda for Iggy I would do that in a heartbeat.

Aviles is no Julio Lugo.

Too many damn walks. You can survive this against a suck ass offense le the A's when you are bludgeoning them, but not against real teams.

Exactly. Boy needs to throw consistantly as well.

Send him down, call Cook up.

Well I simply don't know what the f*** Gammons is talking about. He has turned into a NESN homer. This was not a good outing for Buch before Reddick's home run.

Hard to blame V as he still has some arsonists waiting out in the pen. Disappointing against the A's. They truly suck.

Poor kid could just never really put it all together.

He had ONE good full year with us. Thats it. Just like Phil Hughes.

Lets not give up on Buccholz just yet.

Might be a blessing in disguise, bullpen duty in the future....might be just what we need back there.

Wow I had never seen Buch look that unhappy leaving the mound. He may have figured out that with Cook showing well this was a important game for him. Feel really bad for him. He is not a bum. Had so much promise couple years ago and I just think his body has let him down.

You know that he's the kind of kid that would land on some NL team and get his s*** together.

I don't feel comfortable yet' date=' maybe when it's 18-1 going into the 9th, but even then....[/quote']

I wasn't joking, not even a little bit.
