Ahem...... How many teams in all sports have come back from being down 0-3??? Go ahead and google it' date=' I'll wait.... The Yankees were a 99.99999999 % favs to win that series[/quote']

About as much a percentage chance of blowing the lead you had last year. It happens. Enjoy 2004, as you should. Just as I enjoyed 1996, 1998-2000 and 2009.

We may just add 2012 to that list. Ask any Yankee fan...we will take five world championships in 15 years even if it means an epic collapse. 2004 hurt us like 2003 hurt you.

On a serious note, this is the kind of loss that can linger for a long time. With no game likely tomorrow, maybe the Sox can right the ship soon and make this an enjoyable race.

I actually stopped watching after the 6th inning. "Doubrant is dealing and the Sox are up 9. I'm going to go run my errands now...it looks like this game is over"

I am a fool.

Didnt we have the talk about how easy it is to be a yank fan? I dont get why you come here to argue with people.

Overheard in the owners box :

Henry-- You know, Larry, this kid Tazawa looks like the best pitcher in the bullpen right now.

Why don't we make him the 5th starter and move Bard to closer?

LL: Sounds sensible. But we'll have to clear it with the front office. Bard really wants to start.

Henry: Well, it's about winning, you know. And right now, we don't have a closer. And another thing, why are all those hot prospects winning games in Pawtucket and not here?

LL: Sounds sensible, too. But the front office thinks they need more experience.

Henry: Don't you think Dubront should have started the 7th inning? Seems like your Bobby V didn't make the right pitching decisions in this game. The fans don't seem to be taking very well to him.

LL: Sounds sensible, again. I'll suggest to Bobby that starters should go deeper into games when they are throwing quality starts--to take the pressure off the bullpen.

Henry: Sounds sensible, Larry.

I would give gold to hear their conversations right now.

At least you missed the heartbreak.

I'm actually not at all dejected by all the s*** these Yankee fans are talking. Not one bit.

The Red Sox have their own problems to tend to. They are a mess. This is more like a sprinter who has a pulled hammy or a golfer whose shot is off. When they are at the top of their game they worry about their competition. When they are off their game entirely its much more about focusing on each game and the road to recovery. These problems are not due at all to the nature of the competition, they are entirely on the Sox. In a way, that feels better than having a good team that simply isn't good enough to beat another good team.

All this talk about the SP being horrible.... Besides bucholz, we've only had 2.... Yeah 2...starts from our starters where they allowed more than 4 runs.... 1 from Lester, 1 from

Beckett????? People are looking at our team era which is obviously inflated due to lack of innings and a FEW horrible starts.... I don't get it??

I'm pretty happy I'm a fan of the Spurs, Red Sox and Padres from my time living all over the US. (Used to like the Celtics before they got Garnett, back in the Al Jefferson/Ricky Davis/Antoine Walker days). It's nice to have a diversified portfolio. Padres aren't too good currently and the Sox are finding ways to disappoint right now.

In an effort to be positive and remind evryone why baseball is such a great game, below is the line score on June 27 2003. The Red Sox scored 14 runs in the first inning that day against the "hapless" Florida Marlins. BTW the Marlins went on to win the World Series that year against the New YorK Yankees.

1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 R H E

FLA 1 0 0 0 4 0 0 1 2 8 10 0

BOS 14 2 1 2 1 0 1 4 - 25 28 1

W: B. Kim (3-6)

L: C. Pavano (6-9)

Don't do it.

No, thankfully he is taking a MONTH off. Wish some others would follow suit.

I agree.

If User takes a siesta, the aggregate I.Q. of this board will make a precipitous drop.

What we need is some wins and a Mod to ban these trolls.

Well for one thing they will find a way to play better this year once they truly understand what they have or should I say don't have. Not convinced that means they can compete this year but they will play better. Ultimately I think if there is one macro issue I think they have to deal with' date=' they need to keep a good mix of vets with contracts with young guys that are cost controlled. They cannot allow these big gaps to appear in that flow of talent and they have to be willing to cut guys away before they are on their last legs.[/quote']

That all makes sense. Maybe you should go down to Yawkey way and drop off your resume and a cover letter explaining your ideas.

I'm serious.

Who do you honestly feel is an above average starter on our staff aside from Lester and Beckett?

Well I have been critical of the starters so maybe I have something to add. I think they are above average but in a sense the starters are a microcosm of the team in general as it compares to the league I think. Sure they are above average. However does that make them competitive with the best rotations? I would say no.

I think the same can be said in a way for the team in general. I think they will in the end win a bunch of games. I don't think they are a 60 win or a 70 win team. I never have thought that. However I really do question and have questioned whether they are a 90-95 win team and I really don't think they are a 95-100 win team. Winning 88 games for example will put them above average just like their rotation is above average but won't get them to the post season.

As of today?? If we are going for above avg... Dubront is def above avg compared to most teams #4??? bard is alot better than most teams #5 ( although I am a believer he should be the closer, but w/e )

I absolutely believe this to be true and think that when they are matched up to other 4's and 5's we will have an edge. But then they have to give the ball to the pen and they are really weak. V will learn I think what he can and cannot do with that pen and once he does it will likely not as often have the catastrophic result it had today. But it is still weak. We will see some different arms moved in as well over time.

85 wins this season at this rate but it's only APRIL. anything can happen in a baseball season.

At this rate it's more like our first losing season since 96.

When is Dice K due back? I think he could definitely eat up some innings in middle or long relief. He can't handle starting pitching innings over a full season anyway.
