I agree with the impulse to get the better player up. I just think the Sox need help in areas that shouldn't cost them too much. Youks to the A's, with some money, for Grant Balfour or some other reliever. They don't need a huge return, but someone who can help would be nice.

Balfour is a 34 year old middle reliever currently pretending to close. Beane isn't attached to REAL closers, let alone solid middle relievers. I think Beane would bite at Youk and an A-level prospect for Balfour and logic says Bean wins that trade with the unpredictable nature of relievers.
