ESPN just reported a partially dislocated shoulder for Ellsbury, out a minimum of 6 weeks.

Let the Cody Ross era begin. (Gulp.)

Well s*** happens, now we gotta make due. We put up 8 without him, I think we can survive until he's back.

I agree. I think most fans are completely underestimating this lineup, especially Youkilis/Ross/Sweeney. Youk looked much better today, Ross reminds me of Nick Swisher, and Sweeney is looking great.

Also, Shoppach--as weak as I know his career offensive stats are--looked really, really comfortable out there today. Any chance he makes a run for the starting job if this keeps up? (And I know a 3 for 4 day is not the everyday Kelly Shoppach, but I just get a feeling about him...Beckett clearly was very comfortable with him today.)

How is Ross a douchebag?

PawSox scratched Che-Hsuan Lin from the lineup tonight... pretty sure he's getting called up. Probably the smart move to make... solid defensively but not all that great with the bat.

Losing Ells sucks balls.... he is the one guy that is almost impossible to replace in the lineup. Sox have to rally together and find a different way to win games without him setting the table.

How is Nick Swisher a douchebag? He's one of the few bearable Yankees.

No such thing, I take my Yankee hatred far past the boundaries of reason.

Lin is Jose Iglesias, centerfield edition. But he's a really freaking good defender, tons of wheels and defensive talent and an Ichiro-like arm.

If 6 weeks is all then the Sox might be lucky. It looked like a pretty serious injury.

I predict Sweeney pulling a JD drew June 2008 until Crawford returns at which point the CC will earn his money.

Ellsbvury could be out much more time if labrum, rotator cuff involved, as was case with Griffey, Freddy Sanchez, JJ Hardy

Thanks Chris//RT @ChrisGearyOrtho: @GordonEdes Rotator cuff tear in addition would be even worse, that is true

More Ellsbury: If dislocated, could range from few months to season-threatening (think Freddy Sanchez last year)...many variables in play.

I absolutely understand. I've lived in downtown Manhattan for sixteen years, so I could write the book on Yankee hatred. That being said, however, Swisher is a solid hitter and fielder and by all accounts has done WONDERS bringing together the Yankee dugout/clubhouse of douchebaggery, the heaven-gazing, smarmy-looking bastard. Here's hoping that Yankee fans are hating on Cody Ross with the same vitriol we're absolutely justified feeling toward Swisher and all things Yankee forever more.

I think we should be prepared to be without Ells for the rest of the year. Try to survive until Crawford comes back then let him lead off. I hope we get him back but I'd put money on his season being over.

Ellsbury's bat, speed will not be easily replaced. Valentine used Aviles at leadoff a lot this spring

Not this year. He need to repeat AAA for a year first.

When will Kalish be ready?

THIS. Anyone know? Kalish is such a God damned mystery. Wasn't he all that two seasons ago? I know it was a shoulder injury last year...oh my...a very Ells-esque injury. :(

He also had spinal neck surgery in 2011.
