That's not the situation. This team has the players to win 94-98 games. It's the way that the players are playing.

Today, for example, are you kidding me?? You let Ricky Romero mow through the lineup without even putting up an effort? The guy was at like 90 pitches through 8 IP. For the love of God, grind out an AB and work the pitch count if he's so much better than you that you can't hit him.

Apparently, the Blue Jays pitching staff has just gone from one of the worst in the MLB to one of the best in the MLB, according to some of the hitters. All I hear about is how Henderson Alvarez reminds the players of King Felix, how Kyle Drabek is a completely different pitcher than he was last year, and now today, I'm sure they're going to say Romero had some of the nastiest stuff they've seen.

Stop making excuses and manufacture some damn runs. First thing - move Youkilis down to around the 8 hole. That guy is absolutely clueless at the plate right now.

Hell, I'm fine with making a drastic move. Bring up Middlebrooks, he's cruising right now in AAA and hitting .364 with a .955 OPS in that tiny ass sample size, but regardless, it's not Youk's numbers that I'm concerned about. It's his approach, his swing, his timing, his defense, everything.

The Greek God of Walks hasn't gotten a free pass yet, he's struck out in 5 of 16 at bats, and when he's not striking out, he's grounding into double plays. Of his 16 at bats so far, he's either GIDP or K'd in 7 of them. He's trying to pull everything in sight and he has zero plate discipline. And that's not even mentioning the game yesterday where he turned into a spectator at 3rd base while Encarnacion conveniently went from 2nd to 3rd on a ground ball by Lawrie that Punto had no play on at 1st but would have had a play at 3rd if Youk was covering.

God, I hate Youkilis.

He will get his feet under him. Give him some time.

I never said i was proud of the effort or the display thus far. Also my apologies if you have

been a fan that long. I do not think they are more concerned about the clubhouse issues

i think that is the media completely doing this and hence why the shitstorm is lingering.

It's fine, I'm clearly overreacting and having a meltdown but I'm so sick and tired of this team playing like a bunch of overpaid, entitled pieces of crap. It's the most agonizing thing to witness the talent this team has go out and perform at an AA level of play.

He's done. Mark my words - the guy is toast. He's trying to change his batting stance to go back to the 2009 and 2010 version of himself but he doesn't have the same bat speed as he used to so he's bailing on pitches so he doesn't get beat and get jammed, and now he's pulling off of everything and his bat is in the hitting zone for about 0.002 seconds.

or for once they could have manufactured a run with Youk bunting the runner from 3rd.. they didnt try anything 2 on nobody out i can understand that with Gonzo but Youk had to bunt in that scenario.. except for Pedey and Sweeney for crying out loud everybody else seems napping.

They tried to manufacture a run earlier in the game but for some reason Shoppach doesn't understand the concept of bunting hard to the 3rd baseman to move over the runners. All this while Lavarnway is sitting in AAA.

By the way, on D&C this morning, Valentine said that when Lavarnway is ready to go as a big league catcher, he's going to be starting and not splitting time behind Salty.

i only wish they do that in May and not July. cuz Salty or Shoppach they both suck..

i saw how Shoppach was when he played for Tampa bay, relaxed and when he was here they are for some reason tensed and not enjoying baseball anymore.

i do understand after last year but still cmon they need to let loose. they need a shakeup.. forget what happened and start mowing the pitchers like they used to.. easier said than done though .. frustrating really.

I am always hopeful and from that stems enthusiasm' date=' but you can't expect too much. If you do, disappointment follows like night follows day.[/quote']

I have learned as you said though not to get to high or too low and just enjoy the

game for what it is and that's fun.

Lavarnway should be with the big club right now and BV knows this but just has to

accept that the FO OF FOOLS runs this place.

You were the most enthusiastic fan in the off season. You gave some of us reasons to dream big. I warned you about that. Lower your expectations. Expect injuries and carnage. Expect to see Ohlendorf as the #2 starter and you will not feel so bad when they actually play the games. Your expectations were too high.

That is very well put. This team simply does not have the talent to impress die hard fans this year and make a postseason run. Its mostly the pitching, but the offense will also likely fall off from what I can see. Youkilis might right his ship, but there is a significant risk that he will never be the player he was here. I expect to see more effort out there too. So far only a few players are playing with any sense of urgency, and emotion. Pretty disgusting, especially when you consider how last year ended for us.

I seem to remember this team starting 0-6 last year and still having the best record in the AL at the end of August.

What difference does it make what our record was at the end of August?

Best record in the AL 5/6 of the way through the season despite having such a s***** start? You really can't see this?

That doesn't mean that it's the recipe for winning, and also they had a bullpen who was elite from mid- April to late August, thanks in large part to Bard's 1.37 ERA and Pap's 2.68 ERA.

I'm not saying this season is doomed, but I am saying that they are playing as bad as they did in September right now and if they don't turn it around quickly, they're in danger of getting really, really far behind in a really, really quick rate.

The thing is - last year this team started out 2-10 but it wasn't a huge deal because even the best time in the AL East (the Yankees at that time) was only 7-5, so it's not like anyone started out red hot.

This year, the Rays are 5-1 right now and the Sox are already 4 games back at 1-5. Last year, at 2-10, they were only 5 games back because nobody started out well.

Again, the Sox can very well go home and sweep the Rays at Fenway and be 5-5 and tied with the Rays and turn it all around. Or they could also come home and get swept by the Rays, be 1-9, and be looking at an 8 game deficit to make up. That's a big hill to climb.

No, it's not the recipe for anything. It's irrelevant. An isolated 6-game stretch of a 162 game season means dick. I can find three 1-5 stretches in the 2007 season alone.

I prefer to look at the bottom line. And the bottom line is that for two years in a row we are a pathetic third place team that finished out of the playoffs. And this year isn't looking any better. Frankly, I don't think they have the talent to win more than 88 games this year-max.

Ok so we're 1-5 and probably gonna be 2-8 by 10 pm monday night but we dont need to turn against one another. I'm bring Kate Upton back to settle everyone down. http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-r1VPAthJrSU/ThS7HZaGC1I/AAAAAAAAAoA/112zzoe9JeQ/s1600/kate-upton-vs-lingerie-1.jpg

See? Now things aren't so bad.

Reading this thread pretty much confirms how f***ing lame Red Sox fans are. How some of you call yourselves fans is laughable. Go find another team ****s.

Well said .

You mean 5-5. Harmless mistake.

You really believe that? If Alvarez, Drabek and Romero shut us down what are Price, Hellickson and Moore gonna do to us? I would love to think we could win 3 or 4 but my head tells me it'll be more like 1 or 2

Have a little faith. 2004 ring a bell?

Very clever lol!!

I'm upset about the loss no doubt but at

The end of the day there isn't anything I can do about this team being s***** right now. All I can hope for is they turn it around. And fast. The division seems a lot more competitive this year. Yanks are playing like the Yanks. Tampa won again today and the Jays are 4 and 2 now.

Hey. I know I overreact when we lose, but in the same respect, I celebrate the hell out of our wins too. I'm a passionate, hysterical fan. When Papelbon said that the Sox fans are more hysterical than the Phillies fans, I'm the guy he was probably talking about, although I do have limits and would not throw a fake limb down for a signature.

Anyway, it's just being passionate. Different people react different ways. I am the type of fan that lives and dies with every pitch, and then after the game is over and I have time to get over it, I'll be more rational.

But just because some people react differently than you doesn't justify calling other people ****s.

Yep' date=' I believe that was 8 yrs ago and one guy from the 2004 team is on the current one[/quote']

Beating you choke artists was a hell of a lot less likely than sweeping four from tampa at home. You miss the point jacko.
