Having said that, Youkilis still is beyond terrible, and even rationally speaking, I think he is toast this year. I wouldn't be shocked at all if Middlebrooks is called up around the ASB, due to either injury or consistent poor performance by Youk (more likely the former)

Hey. I know I overreact when we lose, but in the same respect, I celebrate the hell out of our wins too. I'm a passionate, hysterical fan. When Papelbon said that the Sox fans are more hysterical than the Phillies fans, I'm the guy he was probably talking about, although I do have limits and would not throw a fake limb down for a signature.

Anyway, it's just being passionate. Different people react different ways. I am the type of fan that lives and dies with every pitch, and then after the game is over and I have time to get over it, I'll be more rational.

But just because some people react differently than you doesn't justify calling other people ****s.

I get the feeling he isn't talking about you man. You're a real fan and a solid poster. Some of the other people around here, not so much. **** is an applicable term for the people that he's referring to.

Agreed, youk is a liability.

Oh, well if he's not talking about me, then disregard the last sentence. Either way, the rest of it is still applicable. I'm not going to sit here and act like I don't know that I'm an overly passionate, overly reactionary fan during the game, especially today's game.

Losing is incredibly frustrating, but losing and not grinding out at bats is unbearable.

If someone is mad and says stupid s*** I don't care. That's one thing. To constantly say stupid s*** like "season over" "this team is going to get 3rd place" etc. is annoying as hell. Some posters here literally have no faith in this team. I feel like they come on here just to be negative and they know exactly who they are. In that case, they are ****s. They need to go root for some other team. I should keep all these quotes that people say and watch them act like they've been going for the team the whole time.

That was not meant to you because you actually believe the Sox still have a chance. Some of the things you said today though were pretty absurd. That was for sure an overreaction you had today. Some posters couldn't believe it

I wonder if all that weight lifting stuff was all show or if Youk really did hit the weight room hard. If he did it might have been the worse thing for him. I just don't see him as the classic .250 batting average power hitter but maybe that is the role he has been trying to fit himself into as he has gotten a bit older. It has looked that way for parts of recent seasons.

Dude, I posted my wishes for miggy to plow his car into a ball doing a buck twenty because he went yard off of us a couple times. We all go overboard. We all get pissed and say s*** we dont mean. But the real fans, the loyal ones, keep their heads up and stick with the team despite whatever hole they might be in. I think we meet that qualification.

Well, I honestly can't believe that the Sox, after that horrid September, and the horrid start last year, and knowing that if they would have just started out decently that they would have made the PS last year, I just cannot fathom how they could possibly come out and stumble out of the gate again this year. It all got bottled up and came out at once.

Sorry for the overreaction fellas. I'll try to keep them to a minimum.

You don't have to be sorry, it happens. I don't expect everyone to be all like "we'll get em next time" after a s*** performance like today.

Just blame JD Drew and mike Cameron. Somehow, this is all their fault.

This is a game thread, this is supposed to be reactionary, like if you were in a bar with your friends and watching the games. If someone thinks that this team is going to end 1st, 2nd, 3rd or even last in the division or whatever, it doesn't make you more or less fan or better or worse poster than the most optimistic. It is about opinion and how you see the game. On the other hand even the most "pessimist/realistic" fan wants that this team wins. This has been a misunderstanding over, and over and over again in this board.

So... do not worry, react or overreact all you want... there's nothing wrong as long you do not insult other posters as some posters do around here over and over again and call themselves optimistic ... Unreal.

Well said .

I have that dude on ignore for a reason. I think its a laughable post. So what if some of us think we are not as good as the Yankees and the Rays and that we will probably finish in third place. So what if we say whats on our minds? Are the only posts here that his faction finds acceptable limited to those that have us finishing in first or second place and making the playoffs?

ALL of us are diehard fans here or we wouldn't be here. Thats a fact. I have been a fan of this team for over 50 years and I wish to hell that we could beat the Yankees and Rays out this year. When I look at our pitching, I just don't see it. I try to be as objective as possible when I post my opinions. I am always willing to debate the issues but some of you here are pretty misguided if you don't think that either me or those who think like me are not diehard fans just like you.

Now thats a well considered post. Calling out some of us diehard fans as "****s" is offensive and uncalled for. I am like you: I over-react to our losses sometimes and I live and die with each pitch. Done it for a long long time. I am frankly surprised that such language against other posters is tolerated here without repercussions.

Now lets calmly get back to discussing baseball, eh?

I like that we have an off day tomorrow. Gives the guys a day with their families to relax and get mentally back in it. Maybe that'll help?

We're all passionate and hysterical. Welcome to TalkSox. You'll love it and hate it here, because we're all nuts.

Because you are a wimp. I know I'm on your LONG ignore list, but I couldn't resist. :D You are spineless and afraid of getting banned again. Plain and simple.

Somehow putting you on ignore didn't work, but I will try it again. Unfortunately, VA, every time you address me it is with disrespect. I deserved to be banned because I got caught up in the interpersonal stuff, and I am embarassed about that because I am better than that. It will not happen again whether or not the two of you remain on my ignore list.

I would much rather restrict my comments to baseball, so this is the end of this discussion. As for fearing getting banned: LOL.

I've been out here for a long time and get along with the majority of the posters. Even the NYY fans.

You are a different breed. Unless you change your behavior (as you said I should do in a PM), I will never show you respect. You are constantly negative, pessimistic and a blow hard. You have said over and over that the Sox will only win 88 games this year. OVER and OVER. And OVER and OVER. We get it.

I've noticed you TRYING to be somewhat positive, but I thinks it's a crappy attempt at trying to fit in where you don't. And an attempt at not being banned again.

Your posts are tired and you are a broken record.

Sorry you didn't feel your ban was deserved but a lot of us did.

Enjoy yourself. Good health to you and yours.

I just thought your post was uncharacteristically vicious and personal. I don't think I have seen you quite so angry. Just a little surprised.:dunno:

We all really need to take a chill pill here. Losing sucks, but getting at each other's throats isn't going to solve anything.

Let's patiently wait for them to do better in the next game, and keep in mind people:

Only 6 games have been played.

So let's all chill. They will play better.
