Nope' date=' I never said he blamed others for the on the field stuff. I said that instead of blaming himself he calls his teammates "snitches/rats" for allowing his off field stuff leak to the media.[/quote']

Here's what Beckett said:

"He (Francona) didn't deserve any of [the negative personal revelations following the season]. He has stuff going on his private life, he doesn't talk about them, nobody else needs to talk about them. That's his own deal. Sometimes it seems like, it doesn't matter who you are, when it's time for you to leave you get a swift kick in the ass and somebody kicks you in the ass when you get around the corner. I thought if he wanted to be back, he should have been back."

The exit of Francona clearly upsets Beckett, as do many of the reports that accompanied the former Red Sox manager's exit.

"Somebody made that stuff up, just like somebody made up that we were doing stuff … This is stupid," he said. "I don't understand what the big deal is. Somebody was trying to save their own ass, and it probably cost a lot of people their asses. The snitching [expletive], that's [expletive]. It's not good.

It took him this long to notice how you get thrown under the bus on the way out of town?

I saw that quote and I am puzzled as to "somebody MADE UP that we were doing stuff"...So what was the "stuff"...the beer and chicken? The pitchers verified that it happened, so what does he mean by that? Flapping and stirring up is not good. Changing his story is even worse.

edited to add:

Regarding Francona ( I think JB said s***.....not "negative personal revelations following the season"), I don't recall hearing much more that crickets chirpping when he left. DP finally spoke in support, but there was dead quiet from the players for a very long time.

The guys who were thrown under before now were sulking superstars like Manny and Nomar. This was Tito, and that's different because Tito is the exact opposite.

I'm not surprised that having Tito get the treament would shake some guys who wouldn't care if Manny got what was coming to him.

So he should take responsibility for that, which he didn't do? Why would you ever take responsibility, as you say, for being a snitch unless you were the snitch?

But when he wasn't talking about what happened last year he was getting reamed for that. Now he sits down and gives his view of what happened and he gets reamed for being outspoken.

If he keeps quiet, it'll blow over. If he keeps talking, it'll keep blowing up.

See: Tim Thomas FB postings

If he doesn't say anything, fans will forget after 1st W. If he keeps providing soundbites, it won't go away.

This is true however with one possible exception. Come September if the Sox go into a losing stretch someone will bring it up again. It is in the nature of the beast. Besides this is the Boston Red Sox. Red Sox fans savor the memories of their disappointments as much as their victories. To prove that just ask any real red sox fan what's Bucky Dent's middle name. You all know the answer. It like the line from Pritzzi's honor. "We forget nothing! We forgive nothing!";)

I didnt say he blamed anyone for what happened on the field did I?

I thought this thread was about the "snitches".

I think you are misunderstanding what I was saying, and Im not saying that to be a smartass or anything......maybe I wasnt clear, either that or I am reading you wrong.

What I was trying to say was that Beckett was a part of the whole off the field fiasco which contributed to their demise, and instead of taking responsibility and showing remorse for it, he instead gets pissed off and blames the "snitches" for the information getting out.

MVP is right, if he wants it to go away, every time someone brings it up he should get up and walk away from the interview just as Tim Thomas has started doing.....

We are pretty sympathetic and forgiving fan-base in the last decade.....is it really that hard to just take responsibility for it? The media is eating up his stubbornness, whenever they need a story...just ask Josh Beckett about last year and mention beer and chicken.....and there you have it... tonight's headline having to do hardly any work.

People are grasping at some pretty short straws to hate Beckett.

Besides, who cares as long as he pitches well and keeps his mouth shut?

I said essentially this about two months ago. He's an egotistical twerp but when he pitches well I am glad it is for the Red Sox not against them.

This is actually a perfect way to close this one out. You being irrational' date=' and taking snippets of what you want to seen/hear. You couldn't have slapped the old ignoramus label on yourself any better dude.[/quote']
