The simple fact that he actively strives to mimic his predecessor in everything from speech patterns to wardrobe should be reason enough for people to understand that he brings nothing new in the way of style or philosophy to the job. And just in case a few folks here need a reminder---the incompetent jackoff he's modeled himself after just got through driving this organization full speed off a cliff.

 

I can understand a hardcore ballwasher feeling optimistic and stretching their grade to a C, but anyone going above that really needs to ask themselves whether or not they legitimately understand the game in 2012.

 

Muggah, some of us, and maybe you were one of them, said from the get-go that the RedSox should have brought in a fresh face from outside with full powers as the new GM----someone not connected with the previous failed regime of Blunder and Coma. Instead they put in a recycle job of a mediocrity that was originally passed over in late 2002 for Epstein. Fair enough to say he was chosen because he was safe, pliable and a good runner for coffee and donuts. They can and do control him and that is why we may be in the toilet this season, though I hope not

 

Ask yourself this question.....If Prune Face suddenly decided to sell the team do you think the new owners would keep Cherries ass the GM? The locks to his office would be changed quickly and his ass would be out on Yawkey Way so fast that his feet would never hit the ground.

I found it as derogatory as Polyanna which is innocous whereas calling someone out of control is not. Besides it was a personal attack. I never attacked you personally. If you don't think calling someone out control isn't a personal attack then you are sadly mistaken. Actually in certain situations it can be considered libelous and constitute creating a hostile work environment. Believe me, I know.

What I have not heard is one scintilla of insight about the team or about any of it players or what might be needed for the team to prosper this year. If this is the best you can do why not just read the posts and refrain from answering until you come up with some information or ideas that will contribute to the discussion. I gave him a B. That's kind of a namby-pamby vote, but it's a little early to judge the results of the offseason. As has been said frequently, Cherington wasn't given much financial room to play with. I kind of like all the dumpster pitching acquisitions-something has to come of it, right?

Yup, i'm on the same boat. I gave him a B. While Jacko's trying to bust bal ls about letting Papelbon go, i think it was a good move. That would have been a stupid, stupid contract and we got a suitable replacement. Not bringing back Wakefield or Varitek, and doing it without it becoming a sideshow is a plus, as was the Ross signing, and i really like Padilla, and think he will contribute (crazy aside). He built "depth" (what we got is the definition of depth), and the club is in a position where if things break right, they will be successful, and if they don't, one or two in-season moves could fix whatever is ailing them.

 

The Scutaro move was the breaking point for me, and that's why no higher grade was given. It makes no sense.

 

The Ortiz thing has a lot of conjecture and reaching to it. They needed to keep him, or that was a big hole to fill, but they should have gone to battle in arbitration and give him essentially the same salary.

 

If they are really over the salary cap though without the possibility of getting below it mid-season and don't reinforce as needed, my grade changes to a C.

 

I think it's too early to give a grade. Ask me in the third week of August. If pressed to answer what I voted, I say B. I'm with theses guys.

The whole namby pamby and pollyanna thing in this thread started because Bellhorn04 called himself a namby pamby and a pollyanna.

 

The only people called cowards were those who voted an A but who did not explain or defend it. An A grade obviously had to be the result of trolling. Kudos to Emmz to copping to her trolling A. The other A trolls are still unidentified.
