Heed your own advise, hypocrite. Read the thread. I was not nasty when I entered this thread. The nastiness started when you called me OCD and accused me of "hit and run", followed by chummy back patting, obnoxious emoticons, and snarky comments by you and iortiz. You are a real piece of work to behave like you have and then start pointing fingers at me.

To the mods who want this dropped, I refuse to allow this guy to continue to start s*** only to suddenly back-pedal and start pointing fingers. Everytime he takes the BS line with me, I will call him out for it.

The record in this thread speaks for itself. What's your excuse for the nastiness directed at others in the thread?

You have leveled all sorts of personal insults at me in recent weeks. They are also on the record. I parodied some of your insulting remarks in this thread. You recognized the parody, because you accused me of plagiarism. When I clearly told you that I was not accusing you of irrational behavior, you insisted on giving me the definitions of "obsessive" and "compulsive". You were the one who wouldn't let that go, and you carried your nastiness into another thread where you were not provoked at all. You were not civil in this thread, and you almost never act civil toward me. That's your problem.

Maybe you two could continue this in the form of private messages....just a suggestion.

I have said 2 things consistently throughout the thread:

1. That the Nats are not now a big market team.

2. That all teams in the middle are closer to being small market teams than big markets teams. Witness the vicissitudes of the Twins.

The same is true of the US economy, yet nobody disagrees with the stratification of lower, middle and upper class. It's just more useful that way. When 90+% fits into one category, it is often useful to pick another way of stratifying... I just don't care though.

Have a good night, E1. Let's put the Nats behind us. If Benny Boy got us a pitcher, we wouldn't even be discussing their sorry asses. I'm still holding out hope for a starting pitcher.

I agree with this. I'm done with the Nats. I'm on for rooting for Felix Doubront to win the Cy Young.

If this happens, everybody will be turning cartwheels. I think it would be huge if he could just pitch consistently and take the ball 30 times.

I've noticed most of us have a foil or two on this board. Instead of two distinct camps as in elsewhere, on this board we each seem to have a couple of antagonists. I don't know OCR or have I exchanged posts with him to my knowledge so I don't know what goes on between the two of you except what I read. I have a couple of foils who seem to like to push my buttons. One you know because she pushes yours too, but she has me on ignore and our contact right now is minimal. There is one guy, though, who really pisses me off and he knows who he is, lovng to cast aspersions as to my Red Sox loyalty. You try to sluff it off until you just snap. Anyway my friend you're not alone.

I don't have you or anyone on ignore. Not a believer in the "ignore" feature.

I am unable to question your loyalty to the Red Sox. Not my objective or mission in life.

If your posting style weren't so annoying, I don't think anyone would question your fandom.

People on this board agree and disagree. We have for several years.

Can't speak for the newer posters.

Personally, I can respect and disagree with PG and Eltronick (sp?). You and muggah are a different story.

Not on ignore? Fine LinNay, so you now can read my reply. You would be very able to question my loyalty to the Red Sox since you saw me at Fort Myers in 2007. What was I there for if not to support my team, my health? I'm from California, remember? I didn't go to Florida for the climate since we have the best climate in the country. I also don't spend $2,500 for the hell of it. So that reason is bogus and colored by your antipathy towards me. So on that alone you know damn well I'm a loyal Red Sox fan.

My posting style is annoying to you and others who see no evil, hear no evil and speak no evil about the Red Sox even though the team right now is short in pitching quality, short in morale and loaded with problems in the dugout and clubhouse from our collapse last year. The problem there is you get annoyed that some of us bring it up, me very bluntly sometimes and you don't want to hear any of it. Face it, you get very upset when anyone says anything negative about the Red Sox. We don't enjoy doing it, but as Ted Williams (remember him?) used to love to say, NEVER EVER FAIL TO LOOK A BALD FACT IN THE FACE. As for Muggah, he always looks bald facts in the face and so do Pumpsie and Elktonnick and I can warn you right now that if what happened in September occurs again this season what you get from them will make my diatribes look like milk toast.

At any rate maybe sometime this season we might find something to agree on. If not, I can live with that.

Fred, this is where the line gets crossed. People do not come to a baseball message board to be subjected to other people's diatribes, or threatened with it as if it's a punishment.

He's saying that if it happens again, those other guys are gonna go crazy, as did nearly every single poster on here when that fateful day in Baltimore ended. It's benign

Do you know what a diatribe is? The very word defines abusive speech, it's not benign. Bellhorn is absolutely right.

In my medical opinion, all those who feel offended by this thread must follow these instructions.

1. Tampons- insert them.

2. Midol- take 2 and call me in the morning.

3. Ice Cream- buy some and eat the whole carton

4. Lifetime- watch a chick flick and cry all night with a snotty type yowl so everyone in your complex thinks you're a wolf with a cold

Seriously, you guys need to get over this petty s***. It reminds me of a bunch of PMS'ing teenagers. It's pervasive. The season is due to start, hopefully that fixes the issues

See my above post. This is a message board, everything aside from putting out a hit on someone or posting specific info about someone's personal life is benign

Hey, i'm not mad at the thread. I was right about it by the way.

But what Bellhorn is saying (and it's not related to the thread itself at all) is absolutely spot on.

I don't see where you're finding material for correlation from.

Let me put it in simple terms for you since you seem to be busy handling tampons: The Red Sox not doing well in 2012 is not a license for Fred and his friends to act like insufferable douchebags.

I'm not saying they are, but that's what Fred's implying there.

You're too used to the abuse because you're a Yankees fan on the Red Sox message board.

You need help, i'm here for you. :(

If the sox do fail in 2012, they do have the right to force feed crow to the optimists on here. I have a feeling, though, that if the sox are successful, he's gonna forget his negativity and be on board the wagon, pink hat and pom poms in hand.

After posting for the last 7 yrs on red sox sites, I am pretty much immune to most attacks. There are some things that get my Irish up at times, but not many anymore

Right? No one has the "right" to be a douche. There's a difference between "I told you so" and being a belligerent *******.

Now that you mention that, same goes for everyone else. If the Red sox do well, it's not a license to be douchebags to the crew, even though the "I told you so" posts should be plenty and varied in nature.

It is still too early to freak out about starting pitching. NO ONE out here knows what the morale in the clubhouse will be this season or problems that will exist in the dug out. This is just ridiculous speculation. I don't mind warranted negativity towards the Red Sox. 2012 is not 2011.

Some of us have moved on from 2011. I'll never forget 2011 but I will move on.

And please, no need for foolish condescension, I remember Ted Williams.

Apropos of this discussion, I came across an interesting article written by the legendary Boston Sports writer John Gillhooy, the late uncle of current Providence Journel writer with the same name. In the 1950's Ted Williams wanted to ban the writers from the locker room after the game because of the negative comments being written. Gillhooy and Williams had a longstanding feud. Jackie Jensen spoke up for the writers in the team meeting and prevented the ban from being implimented. What is interesting is that Jensen himself was not immune from vicious criticicsm from what were then called the "werewolves" of right field.

The John Gillhooy award for Boston sportwriter of the year is named after him.

The point is that negative speculation is a birthright of Red Sox fans. It is who we are. Which is why the September collapse, Buckner's error and Bucky ---- Dent's home run will never be forgotten no matter how many titles they win. In one way it is the reverse psycjhology we play on ourselves to ward off the evil eye of optimism.

I am not one of those Red Sox fans. To me, negative speculation is a waste of time and energy. So I don't go there. To each his own. Knock yourselves out.

I noticed after 2004 some of the NYY fan base that used to constantly remind us of Buckner, Bucky, Boone, 1918, etc no longer existed. None of it will be forgotten but, personally, it doesn't bother me as much as it did prior to 2004.
