:rolleyes::lol:

I'm optimistic, I think this is done at very most the next couple of weeks, I'll be surprised if they don't sign someone before this 2011 ends

When does this officially become farcical?

It's there. What else is there for them to do? They've interviewed and re-interviewed, and now there is no new info pouring in. Yet they havent made a decision. This could definitely have an impact on FA signings as well.

If they can't do both at the same time, they should find a new line of work. That's a stupid assumption honestly.

I would think those of you out there who kept preaching patience on this matter would most likely have altered your thoughts by now. I hope so too because right now the Red Sox leadership is making our team look like a comic opera. How the hell can a team go two days short of two months and not be able to name a new manager? Do they think someone on a white horse is suddenly going to ride in and save the day? If you guys read Dan Shaunessy today you would see what he and most writers think of Lucchino------in other words, he is looking more and more like a clown and a dysfunctional one at that. Larry didn't like Dan saying words to that effect but that is what he is going to hear from a lot of writers because he has shown himself to little more than a clown in all this---and this is coming from someone who has always admired the guy. What a disappointment.

He's a career contrarian and s*** stirrer. Anyone who reads him is a dope.

What about Ryan, Callahan, Abrahams, MacAdams Buckley, Fegler and Mazz are they all dopes too. I can't name one prominent Boston sport writer or commentator who sin't saying the same. Can you ?

not that it matters now, but i read a piece from ProJo that says the Sox only talked to Sveum first more because of how fast the Cubs were moving and not necessarily because he was the preferred choice, the piece states that this was according to Cherington, i guess my question is will this carry over to the choice of Valentine or Lamont?..

Yeah, Callahan has taken up the 'get some balls, Larry, and hire Valentine' theme this morning at the Herald.

It's a case of mismanagement, the whole manager "search." Who's running the asylum, Larry?

Valentine is the only guy left who can impact this team, unless they have Joe Torre or LaRussa lurking. LaRussa makes Valentine look like a pussycat.

Lamont is a bit of a joke at this point. I hope Henry realizes that.

Do you think it might be helpful to have a manager and his appointed pitching coach provide input about prospective players that might be signed? Might that not be advantageouis?

The Sun-Sentinel is reporting that a new manager will be named Tuesday.

Why can't they name him today????? This whole thing is an epic of farsical proportions!!!!!!

Id prefer they just get it over with.

We all know who they are going to pick. Just get it over with so we can talk about the offseason since its clear they arent going to do a thing until the name a manager.

Players go where the money is. You can have a class-act organization, manager and pitching coach, but if you don't have the money, you don't get the player.

Players go where they think they will be successful as defined by their own terms of reference. Cliff Lee eschewed New York's money for Philadelphia. Big money without a clas- act organization means you get John Lackey, Josh Beckett et al drinking beer, eating chicken and engineering one of the biggest collapses in Major League history

Yes, that's why Jayson Werth is with the Nationals, Alfonso Soriano is on the Cubs and Carlos Lee signed with a re-building Astros team.

Unless it's a bottom-tier team, (and the Sox are not a bottom-tier team) a player will usually sign with the team that offers them the most money.

Also, collapse or no collapse, it's general knowledge that the Sox are going to re-structure areas of their organization and will contend in 2012. Even more so now that a second WC team is going to be added.

Sometimes, just sometimes, the glass is actually half-full.

If Boston had matched up Philli's Pap offer, Where would Pap have gone to? Where would you have gone to?
