Lets say both the Rays and Red Sox win their next two games, who do you think will win the 1-game tie breaker?

I think its all Rays. Red Sox have been owned by the Rays for years. I dont see how they can get a win against this team.

Funny how it went from hoping to hang on by at least one game to lets hope Boston doesn't get swept by the Os. lol

You asked a question, mostly just to hear yourself answer it.

It's one game in the baseball season. Yes, TB would be favored and should be favored, but anything can happen. Frankly, it isn't much fun trying to predict any particular game in baseball. It isn't like football in that way. Even for the best teams its a 60/40 thing.

Not really, just want to have a discussion to pass the time and move on from this horrific night.

This scenario can be avoided by a Red Sox win and a Rays loss.

But the Yankees are gonna lie down like bitches just to spite us.

We would be wanting the Sox to do the same thing, to be honest. Not to lose, per-se, but to find some way to keep the Yankees from getting in.

Let's just hope we can win these next two and hope the Rays lose one out of the next two. We need Bedard to pitch top notch today to get a win. I'm comfortable with Lester going on three days of rest on Wednesday. I'm counting on Ellsbury and Pedroia to get hot to lead this team. Ellsbury really can make his case for AL MVP if he puts this team in the playoffs. The realization of not making the playoffs is finally settling in. We need to be fired up. Nothing is done and over with. We are playing the f***ing Orioles. We know what we are capable of doing, we just need to do what it takes to win these next two. Overcome the adversity, kick the Orioles ass, make the playoffs, and show all the haters what we all know what we are capable of.

The Potential One-game playoff between the Sox and the Rays would be played at The Trop, so that has to favor the Rays. At the same time, I still think the Sox are better than the Rays and will find some way to win. No matter who wins, it doesn't appear that either of them will go far in the playoffs. Then again, i've been wrong before...

Sox haven't won two games in a row since August 27th, the odds of them winning 3 games in a row seem really low...

On the bright side' date=' maybe if MLB decides the Yankees are throwing the games, all of the New York players can be banned from baseball for life like the Black Sox.[/quote']

Why would we , the Yankees want to help you clowns? Anyway, games are not being thrown, guys are getting rested ... the guys in there are trying

The Sox haven't had the leadership to get them out of this funk.

Cripes, Tito's best shot was to have the players make out the lineup. Yikes.

Odds don't mean much of anything in Baseball though, what were the odds that the Red Sox would be fighting for their playoff life in the last three days of the season before the 2011 season started?

Anything can happen at this point now that's it's tied, I wish we could just clinch a playoff spot and let all this s*** stop though.

Have you watched any Red Sox / Rays games before this year?

This may be the single most idiotic thing i have ever read on here.

Seriously ..... did you start watching baseball two years ago?

What years did Tampa own the Red Sox? I must've been into painkillers a little too much and blacked out for a few years.

Did Tampa own them from 2001-2007 when the Red Sox had a 92-40 record vs them?

'01 14-5

'02 16-3

'03 12-7

'04 14-5

'05 13-6

'06 10-9

'07 13-5

The fact of the matter is the Rays have finished the season with a winning record against the Red Sox FOUR times including this year.

Try watching some games

I think you can get em on TV pretty much anywhere

Uh, YEARS is plural. The poster you responded to was spot-on. The fact is that the Rays have had a winning record against the Red Sox for YEARS, consecutively since 2008. The four years you mention are THE LAST FOUR YEARS, including this one. Why would anyone care what the Rays did under Naimoli in 2002? The Rays have owned the Red Sox for the last four years, they are particularly strong against the Red Sox at home, so they would be heavily favored if it came to a WC playoff.

Umm schooling time..

2008-2011

The Rays are 42 and 30 against the Sox with 72 games played from 08 till now.

24 and 12 at home.

The beating that Red Sox have taken from the Rays have progressively gotten worse by the year.

2008- 10-8

2009- 9-9

2010- 11-7

2011- 12-6

Do not let fandom overtake the obvious.

Comparing a team conviniently making it to favor your own team is dumb.

That wasn't even the point so bringing stats that go a decade back is laughable on your part.

I wasn't arguing past accomplishments by the Red Sox against an inferior then Rays team.

A comparison only works with both teams being equally good.

Forget the past, this is the present and the stats dont lie. Rays have the Sox number since their overhaul.
