Well that's a shame. You and everyone on this site like you are simple minded idiots who have no right calling yourselves red sox fans. You're all pathetic jackasses who make all of us look bad' date=' just go f*** off to whatever s*** ridden hole you and the rest of your ilk crawled out of.[/quote']

I will call you Mr Fine. Would that be OK?

You don't see too many 18 yr olds dominate long season A ball like Bogaerts did. Take a look at Middlebrooks' date=' it took him until 2011 to really break out, and when he was in long season A, he was 20 and sucked. You can see pitchers fizzle out due to injury and loss of mechanics, but you dont see too many offensive players who did what he did and show the tools that he showed fizzle out in the minors. If anything, they typically continue to dominate the minors and struggle on the big stage[/quote']

Hey listen-I hope Bogaerts makes good with the Red Sox. I also hoped Lars Anderson would do the same. History is riddled with players who did well in A ball but failed in AA ball or AAA ball, or who did well in the minors but couldn't hack it in the majors. Every level means it gets tougher, and Murphy's Law says something about reaching your own level of incompetence. I prefer a guy who has passed the testing at A and AA ball and has only two more tests to go.

HAHAHAHA

You are a joke. An immature teenage moron who thinks he can bully anyone he likes here. Guess what: you can't. Neither Muggah nor I tolerate internet bullies like you. We will continue to deal with you in any way we see fit, at any time we see fit, and we will do so disregarding your directives to "shut the f up". Get it?

Internet bullying? Lmao, you're such a soft little bitch. I'm immature but yet you still reply to me. I'm not lot this most of the time, but your crew is not well liked around here. Keep it up.

Why on earth would you think I give a rat's ass about what you think about me or anyone else here?

This discussion is over-out of respect to the other posters here who really don't want to read more of your nonsense.

perhaps because you keep responding. You could care less about what other posters in here want or don't want, just cut the innocent line.

If I declare you winning' date=' will that make you happy? I really don't want to talk to you. I'd discuss baseball but it'd only be shut down with all the pessimistic post. I can't believe the sauxdickheads are running this site.[/quote']

If I post something that is pessimistic, show me where my assumptions are wrong. Debate it. Keep it to baseball. Look at the long discussion UserName and I had yesterday about the state of our minor league system. We disagreed agreeably and debated it for quite some time without getting into name calling or personnal insults. Don't you think thats a better way to conduct oneself on a public forum than the alternative?

This is what pisses me off about Law. He completely throws talent out the window and looks at numbers.

Law is hopelessly overrated. His twitter feed is terrible and moronic.

Pumpsie, i have no problem with you, but your friend Muggah is the very definition of an internet bully. Look at our discussion last night for proof. He needs to tone it down or he's going to get run off the site by an angry mob.

On topic: Jacksonian's assessment of WMB vs Bogaerts is spot-on.

I really know next to nothing about Bogaerts. Will pay more attention this year though.

With MVP Jr here, I'm going to make more of an effort to see some minor league games this summer.

Sorry, not a bully by any means. Just a straight shooter. (wink wink) Huge difference.

I dunno about him, but I do.

I do NOT like the tone that has overtaken this forum since your little cadre joined up. I was willing to give you a chance and stay out of it for the sake of stimulating discussion, but at this point you aren't even accomplishing that -- your act has devolved into forcing everyone to either repeat themselves over and over again for your amusement, or flame and ignore you. There's something about the pattern of responses by you and to you that just screams troll, and has for a long time now. Probably because you never back up any point you have EVER raised on here with anything other than rhetoric, name-calling and emotion.

It's not even about positive and negative. You and your little gang are being nasty, getting called on it, and hiding behind your right to your opinion. Here it is in a nutshell, big guy: you're entitled to your opinion, you're not entitled to be a putz. If you can't parse that, there's the door.

It's probably best to let his posts fade away rather than quoting him now. He's been banned permanently.

Thank GOD. I haven't hated a poster here quite that much since Dipre. And at least Dipre brought facts, intelligence, and good logic to the table. He was a jerk, but he was a jerk who made sense a lot. This guy? Good riddance. Excuse me while I go wash my hands.

No gloating, per-Yeszir. Hopefully things will get back to normal now.

And finally, FINALLY, we can kill this thread in a few short weeks. It may represent the heyday of a700hitter's posting reign, like an autobahn with no cars and a700 has a V-12 engine and just let it loose. Post after post of a700's thoughts, unbuffered, strongly supported, and unadulterated. I still like that guy though. :D

Perhaps we can have a celebration about the end of this thread, the longest in Talksox history by a HUGE, HUGE margain. Retire it? Lock it? SOmething so that it never appears again.

This thread is like 'hitting bottom'. It's like the dirty, ugly girl (or dude, ladies) you wake up next to after months of whoring yourself in the name of fun, or the headache, failed tests, or ruined family/friendship you have after too much coke and not enough attention to the things that matter. We will all regret this at some point.

Again, it is Fonz jumping the shark in short-shorts. Completely unnecessary and unfortuante.

This was the liveliest off-season thread in the most uneventful off season in recent Red Sox history. Strip away the bickering and name-calling and emotion, and there is a lot of good stuff here. For better or worse, it is the record of TalkSox in the 2011 offseason. I have never been a big believer in censoring or sanitizing a record. It is what it is and it should remain warts and all, unless the book burners have their way.;)

I love the homo eroticism in the room, but i don't see any comments about the B/R ranking with the Red Sox in the top 10?

Anyone?

You know User, I've been reading these farm system ratings and haven't commented on them. You know why? I don't take any of them seriiously. They're all over the place anyway. What I do know is that we have some pretty g ood young players down on the farm in "A" Ball who are about ready to make their move. We also have some good ones like Middlebrooks, Lavarnway and Kalish (if he can get healthy) ready to make some kind of a move maybe this season. We did denude our system somewhat with those trades we made for Martinez and Gonzales and these have to be replaced, and they will in a year or two----Vitek, Renaudo, Brentz, Jacobs, to name a few. There are even a couple of young pitching prospects, Barnes and someone else who are projected to maybe make the grade.

Right now what I think we should look at is our regular lineup, players who are now mostly in their prime or getting into it like Pedroia, Gonzales, Crawford, Ellsbury, Satalamacchia, Bard, Lester and Aceves. These are the guys we're going to have to depend on and something tells me next year if we need some reinforcements Henry will be more willing to open the wallet. Right now, though, it is THIS season we should all be concerned with.

How are you going to get reinforcements mid-season for THIS season if you don't have talent that is desirable for other teams?

Posted

This thread happened to be the repository for a good deal of good information and a good deal of meaningless banter. It was the catchall thread for the entire off season. However there is more really good stuff in here than there is garbage in here.

It will end because the off season will end. However it will very likely be the place we come back to to remind ourselves of the hopes, wishes and expectations for 2012. If you don't like this thread you don't like the Internet.

Posted
Well if the Sox make a mid-season deal, that hardly qualifies as "opening the wallet". Paying for half a season of a rent a player is nothing in the overall scheme of things compared to the team actually being in position to be able to utilize a rent a player.

That's the Catch 22 right there User. If we don't have the type of player that some other team covets we may be crap out of luck. We could rent a player or two and take over his salary for the remainder of the year, or we could hope some team would be interested in a long term investment in one of our younger players who might be two or three years away, or maybe he had better stay healthy and hope that we can get the job done with the forces we have already at our disposal. If the law of averages means anything this should be our year where some other teams gets the injuries and we stay in one piece for a change.

That was the whole point of the farm system discussion. To show whether or not the Red Sox have desirable pieces besides their top pieces.

They do, and they are in good position to make a trade at the deadline.

Posted
If the Sox are in position to benefit from a personnel move or moves at the deadline, I would think it more likely that they would go the rent a player route as opposed to ending up in a full blown exchange of players sort of trade. It could happen but I would think the percentages favor a rent a player kind of deal. That is fine by me cause it presupposes that the Sox would be in a position to benefit from such a transaction.

I'm very capable of determining that I do simultaneously like the internet and dislike this thread. For every nugget of good information/discussion there were twelve posts of s***. Over thousands of posts that's some good information, but also tons of s***. We can do better.
