They were up 7 with 16 games left in the season. I'd say that's a bigger choke than us. The Rays had about a month to catch us.

Pardon me for laughing at your valiant defense of the Sox vs. the Greatest Collapse Ever title. Most fans are so angry that they will cede the title to the Sox.

Incredible. They can't seem to beat anybody. If they back into the playoffs playing like this, they will be out in a flash. It's an embarrassment.

But stranger things have happened. They could back into the playoffs, and then suddenly get hot.

Any team that gets hot in the playoffs has the advantage. Look at the Giants last year. They couldn't do anything wrong.

Yankees went 3-15 in their last 18 games in 2000, losing their last 7 straight, then ran the table.

Anything can happen in the playoffs, there is no denying that. We just have to worry about getting there. We need to stop having other teams control our destiny. No matter what though, after this season I hope to see Theo gone and headed to chi-town.

It's one thing for the DH to be a little chubby' date=' and actually Ortiz has been in better condition the last 2 seasons. Youk is too fat. [b']Jenks is a cow who never got off his couch in the offseason[/b], during spring training or the regular season. Drew is as soft as they come. He just disappeared off the face of the earth. Lackey is trimmed down this season, but his conditioning stinks. As good as AGon is, he needs to drop some weight or he'll be getting nagging injuries in a year or two. Lowrie is a physical wreck, and I am still trying to figure out how you break your back from pitching. Crawford was almost never injured with Tampa, but he pulled a hamstring in his first year here. There definitely is something wrong with the conditioning program.

The real problem is that none of the starting pitchers are conditioned to go deep in games-- none of them. A quality start for the Sox needs to get downgraded to 5 innings, 7 runs. It's a joke.

You are accurate at your posts but at the same time you are a very funny guy, I was just :lol::lol: almost cry, really. True we have several heavy weights. Fat Albers missed in that list.

I think team conditioning has been a problem. Ortiz looked in great shape earlier--a couple of inches off his waist. But he has put on a few lbs recently. Pedey you know is in great shape. Salty is another worker. Beckett, too, this year. Also Pap, Ells. Guys in contract years. The rest, you don't know.

ANY team can get hot in the post-season. No one really thought the Giants with their anemic offense could get past the Phillies and their pitching staff, but they did, and then they won it all. Just MAKE it to the f***ing post season, and everyone is 0-0......

How close did the 2006 Cards come to blowing a playoff birth?

3-8 in final 11 games. Won the division by 1.5 games. Astros went 10-2 in final 12.

Going into the final series of the season, the Card's were 1 game up in the L column (0.5 games up overall)

Playing bad and having horrible pitchers are two different things.

I dont see how the Sox can magically pitch gems.

Betckett and Lester are the only ones you can count and even they can go more then 5 innings. Its just sad.

Well like I said, maybe the Sox just have to f***ing get away from Boston to play some good ball. They won't have the Boston media nagging at them. And now that the Yankees are about to clinch the division, maybe they'll throw a bunch of scrubs at us....

The Braves are collapsing very bad as well, and SNL is 2 GB as well.

Something is for sure, the WC race in both AL and NL will finish as a horse race, nose with nose.

What the Yankees are about to do is what Sox should be doing instead they are looking to get unseeded by the Rays. lol love how things work out.

Yeah, I've made that point about 19 times in various posts over the season. You have a 100 pitch limit--that's all you can throw. With Tito, it's 100 pitches--0 runs or 7 runs. He needs 100 pitches out of you.

I think there are flaws in the way they handle their pitching.

17th DCS for the Yanks' date=' money talks.[/quote']

Sox has just as much money to spend. They are just cheap. Yankees is willing to spend unlike Red Sox.

We spent a lot more this past offseason than the Yanks and they still beat us.

Yeah but the Yankees lineup were already built up.

Tex should be a Red Sox. Hell of a first basemen. Better then the one we have right now.

Also Boston blew their load on position players. Granted theere weren't many good pitcher now but to waste so much money so rashly on players that are questionable. It all comes to management again. :dunno:

Over and over and over again man. There is the root of our current problems.
