All I wanted was for the Sox to pull the magic number down by 2 today. The Yankees can still help us out.

But regardless, I'm not sure that this team will win a single game in New York this weekend. All while the Angels are playing the A's and the Jays are visiting TB.

Hate to say, told u, the signs were there.

Nothing is impossible' date=' but in reality, we have nothing to throw at the Yankees this weekend... nothing. It's pathetic.[/quote']

I think the Yankees will have the division wrapped up by Friday, and then they'll throw their scrubs out there....

If we lose the wildcard is this up for consideration as one of the biggest chokes in regular season history?

Well if we do, at least we don't have the satisfaction of having the biggest choke in the playoffs? :dunno:

It's the biggest in Red Sox history by far. I've seen nothing close in 45 years.

Rays haven't shown any heart. They just happened to beat a team that's really struggling. They still suck ass. There is no team A deserves it more than team B. The team that gets there deserves it simple as that.

Not many teams can go through what we went through and still be in line to get to the postseason. If you've seen some of the pitchers ERA, wins, etc. It's a f***ing blessing to be where we are. People rip the offense all the time but it's played a big part of our success and I don't think enough people realize it.

Many would say that the Sox are really struggling because the Rays showed enough heart to come into Fenway and take 3 of 4 pressure games. If the Sox took 3 of 4, fans would say they showed heart - instead of no backbone. Cummon...no Sox fan is happy about this collapse. The pundits who said the Sox couldn't possibly miss the playoffs are in shock at what has occurred.

Well we can't beat the Rays, but we can beat the Yankees.

You'd think they throw out CJ Wilson that series?

It's possible. You never know. But the Angels don't hit ANYONE on the Rangers....

As a700 said, this collapse is epic, and as the journalist said on ESPN, maybe this is the biggest collapse and failure in american sports ever since the expectations and payroll.

When you were talking about it' date=' the Rangers were still behind the Sox.[/quote']

Yup, but It didn't matter because they were on pace to play .600 and the Sox .200 and at some point the LAA and the Ranger could reach us.

Anyway, this sucks.

I for one want to relax and watch some football. I'm so done with this joke of a season. It's going to end like it started' date=' bad![/quote']

We were struggling before we even faced the Rays. Again imo they didn't show heart they just happened to play us when we went back to April form. Plus over the years the Rays kind of have our number. Plus we had Wakefield and Weiland pitching in that series. Pitching is very important and I think we all see that since Buchholz is gone.

This had nothing to do with luck. Lester s*** the bed in his last 2 starts and lost. Papelbon gave it up last night and Beckett gave it up tonight. We lost 4 key games with our best guys. No excuses.

It's f***ing pathetic that this team is so s***** right now that they are depending on the Yankees to take care of the s*** they couldn't take care of. It's like asking your big brother to beat up the bully in class.

f***ing pathetic. No respect for this team right now. None.

Beckett, Lester and Bedard would pitch the series in Baltimore, right?

If we take 2 of them and 1 in NY a slightly ray of light would be there. But at this point this goes beyond winning or losing, as I said, this team is mentally devastated.
