It's amazing how Salty keep swinging at the same s*** consistently all season.

Martin's August OPS .932' date=' Salty's August OPS .749[/quote']

pinch hit varitek for salty

Dont you know if you criticize him you will get massacred around here? What are you thinking?

Somehow' date=' Adrian just can't execute in those big moments!....[/quote']I'm really hoping that this isn't true, but he looked bad in all of the big spots in this series.

Well he's facing Rivera, not an easy task. And Giradi actually can manage to bring in his righty and lefty for match up.

Francona need to start using Wheeler and his other options.

Good luck with that. The script is set....and as far as Francona is concerned, it's in stone.

The players in the currently prescribed roles will have to fail more than a few times for him to consider changing. If you disagree, see the latter stages of Mike Timlin's career.

Probably I'm his biggest fan in the board, but I've been noticing and mostly lately that he isn't sync when the team needs him in order to turn the game to our favor. :(

I don't understand not wanting Bard in the game there. That's the biggest spot of the game, and Bard is the best reliever on the team. Can't wait for the 8th inning there. Francona's mistake was probably letting Aceves start the 7th. He didn't look good in the 6th, and he certainly could have went to Wheeler.

No one is saying Bard shouldn't be in the game. He's been brought into situations such as this the last 2 year.

The Wheeler thing is what I was bringing up. When will he finally be in a close ball game?

OK, but then when did you want him in?

Aceves should be done after his inning. Even after the Jones AB he had nothing. He left him in too long. I would let Wheeler start the 7th cleanly.

Francona been relying on Bard too heavily to cover up his damn bullpen mess. Since last year Bard has nearly 100 inherited runners.

Thank you Bobby Jenks-- for nothing.

He's been platoon, might as well sit him for the options like McDonald. Nice bench you have Theo.

Agree.

Aceves IMO is the best reliever in the BP. The thing is that Francona takes for granted that "El Paton" can give him 3-4 IPs every single relief when his SPs dont give him at least 6 innings like today.... he should taste the water and know that it is not always for granted and mostly when you are losing only by one and just struggled against a powerful offense like the Yankees.

That's fair, although I'm not sure I'd call that move a mistake, because I see both sides to it. But if your general point is that Wheeler should get more looks in high leverage situations, then I agree.

Really? I like Aceves and what he offers in terms of long relief, but best in the BP is a stretch.

Take away his ERA numbers as a starter this season...check?,

Now, allow him pitch only 1 inning like Bard and Pap, where would his numbers go?

Under 2?

If he only pitch 1 inning the other long reliever is who?

Morales? ... Got your point, there is not another IMO ... But I was just pointing that if he wasn't in that role, his ERA would be under 2.

BTW... He wasn't signed to take that role... He earned it, agree?

Gamecasted from work and actually watched the last inning. Seemed like we had Lester against the ropes all night, just couldn't deliver the knockout blow. But 2 straight starts now where we ran his count up and won the game. AJ pitched admirably, but Joe was ready to let him kill us again in the 6th. Regardless, 2 of 3 in Fenway with our 1,5, and 6 vs your 1,2, and 3 is nice!

Well' date=' the umpires screw us again. This is ********. Complete ********, I've never seen a team get more lucky than these jerkoffs have in this series. I hope New York fans aren't happy right now, they've been nothing but lucky. This is ********, no other way to describe it. Girardi f***ed a leperchaun before this series.[/quote']

Dont you think f***ing a leprechaun would bring you bad luck? I would assume the leprechaun would be mad, unless it was consensual. The better theory is that Joe Girardi is a leprechaun. And, well, I am giddy over this series, are you s***ing me? CC grinded out a win after being 0-4 on the season. We had Beckett against the ropes until our manager gave the game back by sending out a tired Hughes in the 6th. And tonight, we ran Lester out of the game and won with Burnett taking the mound. If not for a bonehead move by Girardi, we very well could have swept your top 3 in Fenway with us throwing 2 guys who wont be in the playoff rotation

A while back I predicted that he'll be gone from the Yanks in a couple of years. After the 2013 season at the latest' date=' he'll be the 4th OFer on another club. He's not even as good as Melky.[/quote']

The only argument in his favor was his 2010 season where he had high OBP. I agreed with you, and everyone just kept saying "look at 2010", and look, 2011 looks almost identical to 2009, not 2010.
