Xander had a very "blah" first game of the WBC against S. Korea. Did show some very nice plate discipline though. Excited to watch the rest of the tournament to see how he does. I was dissapointed to hear Profar wouldn't be there, but he has a much better chance to make the opening day roster than Xander does

Ya it was nothing spectacular at the plate, but some positives for sure. His defense was the best thing of the day. He made 3 or 4 really nice plays.

Yeah, he doesn't seem to be having any trouble adjusting. Makes you wonder if the projections for him to end up at 3rd were right all along

Defensively I'd have little trouble calling Bogaerts at least an average big league 3B right now.

But if he can stick at SS, he's a lot more useful to us. So it's worth sticking it out, knowing that Bogaerts can handle 3B fine if a Plan B is required and won't need many reps to get up to speed if they do have to permanently switch him.

What a promising looking young prospect! I look forward to seeing him in Boston one day soon! Good luck at the WBC Xander!

He was the youngest position player at AA, and his promotion to AAA makes him the youngest position player there. Could we see him in Boston next year?

You'll see him in Boston this year. The question is whether it will be as a September call up or as an August starter

Bogaerts has a legit shot at a September call up. I'd be surprised to see him any earlier. Whether it's this year or next, Bogaerts isn't too far off even at his young age. He still needs to perform at AAA though.

Saw Bogaerts back in 08 in Aruba. He was intriguing back then, but my God he is absolutely tearing it up. I don't think he'll have much trouble adjusting in AAA. I'm a believer that A to AA is the more challenging jump in the minors. With Ciriaco gone now I'd think he has a chance this August if Iglesias or Middlebrooks suck. I prefer him at SS, but if WMB doesn't hit for a better average give Xander a shot? I wouldn't give up on WMB, but its more of a, Xander is pushing him out

He's figuring out AAA pitching lately. Launch his 5th HR to bring his AAA line to .262/.361/.440

Overall this year: .297/.394 /.485 , includes 12 2B, 6 3B, 11HR, 7SB

So he has some speed too.
