Yeah' date=' I'm pretty sure they were counting on having Cliff Lee and Phil Hughes being their number 2 and 3 starters [/quote']

I'm sure they were counting on Jimenez or Kuroda, now neither is happening.

The more I look into this trade' date=' the more I'm excited about it. If Harden stays healthy, he's an absolute stud.[/quote']

Too bad I just bought a Lars Anderson jersey and a Lars Anderson signed baseball for my collection.

Anyone want to buy an Anderson jersey?

You're absolutely right. I hope the OP meant that the Yankees are f***ed as far as catching us in the division but I'm not so sure.

I think the sox win the division, but the sox are also the streakiest team in baseball. They're just as likely to win 10 in a row as they are to lose 9 out of 15 or so. The Yanks have been consistent. Not too many long winning streaks, not too many long losing streaks, winning series or tying them by the handful.

It was a matter of time in April. He still hasnt collapsed' date=' so if you hope in one hand and s*** in another, my guess is you'll end up with a handful of s***. Garcia has been good, a lot better than expected. Burnett has been better but still is Burnett and we have CC. Our rotation isnt amazing, but it's been getting it done this yr[/quote']

How has it done against the Red Sox? You confident facing Ellsbury, Pedroia, Gonzalez, Youkilis, Ortiz, Crawford, Reddick, Saltalamacchia and Scutaro with Colon, Hughes and Burnett in a 4 game series?

A size would help.

A healthy Harden may be better than Jiminez. But he's rarely healthy.

The thing is - you don't need him healthy for a full season. You need him healthy for about 13 starts, or about 70-75 innings. The Sox are almost a little bit fortunate that he's missed significant time this year because he could be a huge asset to this team come September when Beckett and Lester are wearing down a bit and he's still pretty fresh.

I think it was BTR that said it earlier, it's going it be very interesting to see how he reacts to being back with Curt Young.

All this talk of Beckett vs. Sabathia and Lester vs. Colon is silly. Beckett doesn't face Sabathia, he faces the Yankees lineup which he's dominated this year. Sabathia doesn't face Beckett, he faces the Red Sox who have dominated him this year.

I wish they would get Bedard' date=' too. Bedard is liable to be a stud in NY. Any lefthander is better in Yankee stadium.[/quote']

That wouldn't suck. Michael Bowden and a PTBNL for Bedard?

I don't think we'd have the room for him. Beckett, Lester, Buch, Harden, Lackey. It's a move I'd look to make if Buchholz was definately done for the year. But with Harden being a health liability, could be an insurance policy if he were cheap enough. Is it plausible?

When was the last time we had a long losing streak? April? You're reaching.

Looks like the Angry Birds are close to dealing Lee and cash to the Pirates for a low level player.

Meh, Lee not that bad of a player. Is this a rent?

We last faced the sox 2 months ago and there are 9 more games left. I'd hold off talking s*** until the season's done. Anything can happen when it's Yanks and Sox

I don't believe the media crap about Anderson. Billy Beane knows what he is doing. The Red Sox are dealing Anderson because AdGon owns first base for awhile.

Except when you see jerseys that have "Red Sox" or "Boston" sprawled across the front.

I'm asking about your confidence with those starters facing that lineup. I'm smart enough to know that when the Sox were throwing Paul Byrd or some other piece of crap against the Yankees that it didn't bode well for the Sox.

Right. they need him for the rest of the season and maybe the playoffs. He's Buchholz's replacement. And he's a lot better than Lackey.

What a dumbass. Did he just called the team with by far the best record in baseball the last 3 and a half months "streaky"? If so, I've got a very fitting new avatar for him.

I believe I was the first of 3 posters to mention it.

Nice trade. I like Harden.

If we were still to go for an OF, who is still available? I was gutted the other day when Pence was traded, thought he would have been a good fit here.

Pence would've cost an arm, two legs, and Theo's left testicle.

I am not confident with Garcia. The sox are a disciplined enough team not to chase his s*** out of the zone. When he comes into the zone, he gets bombed. Colon has been solid and he did pitch pretty well vs the sox earlier this yr. CC is a beast. Hughes wont be in the rotation come playoffs. Burnett is Burnett. He could throw a gem or he could get bombed. He's rarely inbetween. Would I rather have a guy who is more a sure thing? Yes, I would. But we have enough to win out there currently. And if the package the Rox wanted for Ubaldo really was Montero, Nova, and Banuelos, then we were better off going without

Um. The Sox have had a streak of 4+ consecutive losses just 3 times. The 0-6 start, and then two times they had a 4 game losing streak.

Hardly a "streaky team"

And FWIW, the Sox have had 6 streaks of 4+ consecutive wins.

As long as they have 2X the amount of win streaks as they have losing streaks, I don't think there's anything to be worried about.

Can't disagree with you there. Just unsure why the Yankees wouldn't have been in on someone like Harden.

Are the Yankees too top loaded with talent, such that other teams only ask for their very best prospects because they have a few of them?

Like I noted yesterday, Lavarnway and Middlebrooks were probably the 3rd best picks in their respective classes (BOSTON classes, mind you) but they both look a lot better without Rizzo and Kelly, Hagadone and Westmoreland around.

Mostly I just feel a lot better going into a NYY series with the pitchers you listed than I did a few years ago when they had pitchers like Mussina, Pettitte, etc.,

Jayson Stark reports that the Reds were offering Homer Bailey, Mike Leake and two position prospects. for Jimenez
