That's what I've been hearing.

I heard that he requested a trade if the Red Sox were going to keep him in the minors.

Oh, I heard he just wanted to stay in AAA. On another subject, I'm starting to lean towards leaving Reddick in as the starting right fielder and bringing in a cheap righty outfielder to put on the bench. Someone like Josh Willingham. I think we need another starting more than a RF'er.

I'll say it now. We got Marco Scutaro hitting .258 in the MLB right now and his defense has not made up for the lack of offense. We got Jose Iglesias playing in AAA right now hitting .227, but his defense is beyond brilliant. If this team goes out and gets Carlos Beltran, they need to call up Iglesias, hide his bat in that line up, and let him play defense and save some runs. Look at how many runs Pedroia saves every single game. Wouldn't you rather have that plus some at SS, even if it did mean you had a SS who was hitting .230? For the record, Chili Davis, the hitting coach in Pawtucket, has said that Iglesias is making big improvements on his swing, which is why I'm saying .230. I would much rather have a defensive wizard at SS that hit .230 than a borderline defensive liability at SS that hits .258.

Getting Beltran enables this line up to hide Iggy's bat, and improves this team significantly on the defensive side.

Great and smart post. I really hope they do that. I couldn't agree more.

I'd love to get Beltran' date=' but we need a starting pitcher and we already have Reddick in right field.[/quote']

Your signature is remarkably badass. I salute you, sir.

Thanks. You're a Bruce fan too I take it. I'm a diehard for both the Sox and Bruce.

Aramis Ramirez cited his family as the primary reason why he will not approve a trade.

"It is my family consideration," said Ramirez, who has 10-and-5 rights. "If I was single and by myself, then I’d move anywhere and be in a hotel for the last two months. It’s too tough with my family. I earned the right to be in this position and it’s my decision." Ramirez's agent Paul Kinzer told Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com on Monday that his client may approve a deal in August once his family returns home to the Dominican Republic. However, Ramirez would likely want his would want his $16 million option waived if he is traded, so that he could become a free agent after the season. According to MLB Trade Rumors, Ramirez's option "technically becomes guaranteed" if he is traded.

Why would the Cubbies trade their best player? The Cubbies are a BIG MARKET TEAM.

Does their FO suck or what?

The Cubbies are running into some minor financial issues (nothing hideous, the owners just took on some debt to buy the team and have a high payroll) and are not close to contending. Ramirez is in the last year of his deal. Until Ramirez put the kibosh on the concept of him being traded it was a legit thought.

I've seen him 5 times and I've been a fan for 9 years (I'm 15). No one my age at my school seems to like him, just into s***** music. Bruce is my favorite and I like the Stones, Clapton, and the Beatles but not nearly as much as Bruce. I thought my avatar would come out better but you can't really see it, it says "Bruce Springsteen" on the scoreboard. That was the day he played at Fenway in 03. Too bad the Big Man passed away last month. Sorry for getting off topic there. On another note, I'm very impressed by the Sox scoring 15 without Papi (I know he wasn't there because of suspension) and Gonzo. I know the Oriole's pitching sucks, but still.

Hey, what do you know, I'm 15 too. And it does suck about the Big Man.

And it just shows how elite our offense is that we can put up 15 with Gonzo and Papi being a non-factor. Come October, I don't who you're pitching is, people are gonna be scared of this lineup.

The D-Backs are going to release Heilman. He would be an interesting fit for us because his largest issue this year has been home runs and Fenway is really hard to hit home runs in. His ERA is 6.88, but his strikeout and walk rates are much better than his career averages and his xFIP is 3.55. His velocity is down about 2mph but he couldn't be much worse than Andrew Miller.

Well you better start believing it, I just got finished with freshman year. And Ruszkowski, there are two kinds of people in this world, those who love The Boss and those who've never seen him in concert.

I swear I thought you were in your 20's. You learn something new everyday huh?

Well, I'll take your assumption that I'm mature enough to be in my 20's as a compliment.

According to Bob Klapisch of the Bergen Record, the Yankees have ruled out Carlos Beltran.

The Yanks made contact with the Mets at some point in the last couple of weeks, but ultimately decided that the 34-year-old outfielder was "not a fit," writes Klapisch. Beltran has drawn serious interest this month from the Phillies, Giants, Pirates Tigers and Braves. He's likely to net the Metropolitans a decent crop of young talent
