Not his fault for taking the big money. Contrary to popular belief on this site' date=' John Lackey is a capable ML starter who despite a rough start last year, pitched more like himself in the second half and this year I'm sure his wife having CANCER was a bit more of a priority than baseball. He was solid in all three starts prior to this one. Over the course of a season in which a guy makes upwards of 30 starts, there is going to be a few rough ones.[/quote']Please, stop the excuses. Do the job. Millions of us have sick family and we do a good job every day. There are heart surgeons, brain surgeons and air traffic controllers that have sick family members. They can't make mistakes, so I don't want to hear excuses for a guy that has to perform 35 times in the season who is being paid $15/year. Just stop!!

If you don't think that's the slightest bit understandable, I don't know what to tell you. He's been pitching to expectations since coming off the DL, save for this start.

Man the eff up!! If the emotional toll is too great, then take a leave of absence and stop robbing your employer's money. If I take family leave to care for a relative, I don't get paid. If I stay on the job, I am expected to do the job.

He's been doing the job' date=' except for this one start, since returning![/quote']His ERA is 7.36 and it is the last week of June. That says it all.

Having McDonald, Sutton, Varitek and Cameron in the lineup is really brilliant Francona. Why don't you try something more innovative with Drew mix in there too? *******.

5 2/3, 3 ER

6, 4 ER with 8 k's and the last 2 runs came on a HR when we were up by 11 in the 6th

8, 4 ER against one of the best offenses in the NL.

Seems pretty solid to me.

Stop kid, for a pitcher who is making 15 MUSD, you just can't take a timeframe like that, he's a 7 ERA pitcher, he's out of control, he's out of command, and he is hurting this team deep.

If he can't show a decent performance against the WORST offense of the majors, please tell against who?

Wait so is there actually a chance this game gets completely scrapped? Or if they have to call it' date=' would it be suspended for later?[/quote']

If they call it before 5 full innings have been played, it gets scrapped. If it's after 5, and it's not a tie game, it's considered a complete game. If it's after 5, and it's tied, they suspend play until later.

I see. Well, it may be a very cheap way to get a non-loss, but...

LET'S GO RAIN!!!!

It can't be any cheaper than Joe Maddon sending Sam Fuld to the mound, claiming he's hurt, and without even throwing a pitch pulling him and bringing in a guy from the bullpen, all in an attempt to get the guy from his pen a extra time to warm up.
