Actually I tried to once when I was a kid. My buddy pitched one of those small basketballs to me and I swung as hard as I could. Bat hit the ball, bounced back, and blasted me in the face. A broken, bloody nose later, I learned that no, you can't hit a basketball that hard. :thumbdown

You can however, hit one of those Superballs really hard. I once hit one that cleared my yard and my neighbor's yard. It even looked like a knuckleball as it was rising, like the ball was having a seizure mid-air or something. I never found the ball later, I just assumed it went into outerspace or something. lol
