I am ashamed to say that I haven't been a Sox fan for my entire life. I used to think baseball was stupid and boring when I was younger, and it wasn't until my father brought me to a few games at Fenway between 01-03 that I really started getting into it. It was around late 02 that I became a hardcore Sox fan (and baseball fan), just in time to get into a full season the next year when the Sox lost the ALCS.

Since I can remember. Dad modelled my batting stance after Fred Lynn, his favorite player. However, I caught the fever when I was 12 in 1986.

I started watching in 1996, but I probably didn't appreciate the intricacies of the game until around 2000. I've watched old games, but I really wish I was around to see some of those guys on a consistent basis.

First game I can remember going to is game 2 of the 1996 ALDS.

I've been a Red Sox fan about as long as I can remember.

I obviously haven't been around as long as most of you but I vividly remember watching the 2004 ALCS and World Series when I was way younger, 8 at the time. I've been a bit in and out of it since then but since starting in the 2010 season, I've been a hardcore fan again.

Yeah, I wish I could have seen the big brawls with the Yankees during Joe Cronin reign. Also wish I could have seen Bobby Doer, Ted Williams, and Jimmie Fox play, did see Doer as a coach though.

I don't, because I'd be old. Who wants to be old?

I got really into the Sox in '03. I had been slowly becoming more interested the previous couple years, but it just wasn't something that ever progressed into a full fandom when I was younger.

July 12th 1992. My first Sox game, a win by Frank Viola. Many already know, my username SweetChinMusic is a combination of Frank Viola's nickname "Sweet Music" and chin music which was Pedro's specialty.

My family has been big on baseball for years, although I didn't even care till 2003/2004. My father and grandfather would watch every game, and my dad would usually call him after every game. When my grandfather passed away, somehow it worked out that I began to fill the void for my dad. I actually started becoming a huuuge sports fan after living with three gay guys in 2007, and after watching them dress up like women, watch Project Runway, and... well, no one here wants to hear the rest of those details, but the point is I needed an outlet to express some kind of masculinity.

I became a fan in 2003. I was a football fan growing up, never payed attention to baseball except for the Mcguire-Sosa 60 homer season. I thought it was boring. Then when I was in High School I was in ROTC and they had a trip to Fenway for cheap so I brought a ticket and went just for the hell of it cause I heard how cool Fenway was. Sox lost that day with wakefield pitching to the Twins. Either way I thought it was great and became automatically hooked.

Since 1958 when major league baseball came West. I had started Little League and the first baseball card I ever got was 1958 Topps #260 Frank Malzone. From that day on, I was hooked as Red Sox fan.

I used to listen to the sox on the radio with my dad in the 60's.

Then we'd watch them on channel 6 out of Providence on the the weekends.

Take you're shoes off

Put you're feet up

It's time to meet up

with the Boston Red Sox

Boston born and boston bred Sox

Relax, Relax and be a Sox watcher.

Casual fan since the 80's, lost heart in that real bad stretch in the early 90's, started paying more attention at the tail end of 2003 and into the 2004 season, really turned on the jets in the 2006 season

When I was 8 years old my first baseball hat was from my Uncle who lived in the Bronx, so naturally It was a yankees hat. My dad was never into baseball, so I had to play and learn with cousins who were yankees fans. My first game was the Jays vs Yankees 3rd baseline, greatest feeling ever. Then I became a rockies fan for a minuet, and went to the Jays at that was the home team. Not going to lie pretty cool to be part of a back-2-back world series champs. THEN came 1994 the notorious strike, that tore me up and took me years to get back to watching it and following it. Something about the Red Sox clinged to me, so I started following it I would say just about after the WS, really began to get into it, and fell in love with Baseball all over again. Needless to say this is the first year I am getting back into the swing of things, and really glad I found this forum. That is my story :-)
