He offered Bartolo Calzone a bite of his sandwich and Colon almost bit his finger off.

Almost? Finger?

He's probably trying to learn how to throw a curveball using the hook on his hand right now.

I have just one question for you all.

I live in NY and I see alot of Yankees games because I like watching when they lose.

And watching when AJ is on the mound is no exception for me because I know he will get pounded.

Now, the question I ask is this..

Does this guy loses on purpose after he gets hit for a run?

I mean, it seens to me like everytime the oposite team homers or gets a run off Burnett he looks like he just doesn't care from that point on and decides to just green lit the hitters.

Is it that or is he just that awful?

AJ is done.

I think the Yankees are going to dumped this guy. Him and Wakefield should be best friends.

Gift call. Safe beyond belief.

If this was the call with Vlad at the plate, you must've missed the replay. My initial reaction was the same as yours, but YES's replay showed that he was clearly out. Vlad started his slide too early, and Martin tagged him just before he touched home plate.

Yeah, posted it before the replay. Still, maybe the ump felt just a little bit bad for AJ ;)

Haha with the amount of time AJ spends glaring in at the umpires after clear balls, I'm willing to bet they're more than thrilled to watched him get shelled each time out.

Probably trying to telepathically communicate with him, "Dude, for f***'s sake help me and I will give you every last bit of my paycheck."

@Kevin_Goldstein Kevin Goldstein Short, stocky RHP w/ mid-80s FB, touch 90, secondary pitches and command need work, could start for Yanks #ScoutingDarnellMcDonald

How the hell have the Sox played FOUR more games than the Yankees with 31 to play?? That seems ridiculous. The fact that the Sox have won all 4 gives them a significant advantage down the home stretch, IMO.

Between their struggles and final month schedule, the odds of the Yankees finishing ahead of the Red Sox is very slim. It's all about staying ahead of the Rays and Angels/Rangers at this point.

The Yankees have played one game today, play another tonight and play again tomorrow while we have two off days in a row.. By Tuesday we'll only have played 1 more game. In fact, if yesterday's Yankees/Orioles game didn't get postponed we'd of played the same amount of games.

Why is Sabathia 0-4 with a 7.20 ERA in four starts against the Red Sox and 17-3 with a 2.40 ERA against everyone else this season?

well, I have flashes of CC against the Red Sox and what I've been noticing is that he starts solid the first 1-5,6 IPs, but after that, he gets pounded somehow, I just can't explain

I wonder why Garcia was throwning up gang sings when Cervelli got hit. It's not like he's mexican or that his 86 mph fastball would hurt anyone.

Red Sox always seem to score off Mo, but it seems like Bard always gives up a few runs to the Yankees.

So how 'bout those defense sabermetrics that say Granderson isn't a good CF?

I think as little of those as the ones that indicate that Gardner is the best LF.

Are you really this stupid?

Divinity, I assume you've watched most of the games this year ... do you actually think Granderson has played a good centerfield this year? He made a tremendous play tonight, but it doesn't change what he has done for most of the season.

Nonsense. The room full of monkeys on a typerwriter will eventually be able to pound out, "onomatopoeia", with their keystrokes, and since they don't teach that word until 6th grade, a monkey is smarter than a 12 year old. Case closed.

I concede ... that was the perfect rebuttal.

No I wouldn't label his performance in CF this year as "good", but I wouldn't label him "bad" as the numbers suggest.

I do find it intresting that 2 years ago Curtis Granderson was an elite CFer based on these Metrics, and Jacoby Ellsbury was horrid in the field, and now in 2011 those same Metrics say Granderson is Horrid in the feild and and Ellsbury is an elite CFer

It's not interesting, it's been explained in writing ad nauseum that the nature of fielding (number and quality of opportunities, etc) requires data from at least 3 years to be particularly meaningful in terms of determining overall fielding talent.

There's no smoke to cry "fire" about.

However, I think the real gist of your point is to attempt to shoehorn a Granderson for MVP line of discussion in here. While those stats require more than one year to be an accurate gauge of talent, they do work just fine in determining actual contribution for one year. So, that dog won't hunt here if that is your intent.
