I'm looking outside at yet more snow and I thought we should just have a thread where we express excitement and optimism.

Truck day is 11 days away and the Red Sox will win the World Series this year.

Edit: This year there will at least be interesting things to follow during spring training so I'm looking forward to that

get me excited about spring training! I just can't wait until the season starts... and its torture waiting until April. Why am I not excited? ( I live in Florida too.) IDK, maybe because it doesn't count yet...and #86 striking out #79 doesn't do it for me. But, I WANT to be excited... help me out.

nevermind... my friend summed it up very well, in a response to someone calling spring training "preseason" on facebook. I'm officially excited. ***boing!***

It is in the sense that it takes place before the season. So in the context of the space time continuum it is "pre-season." But, to refer to it as "pre-season" as if that were its official title is to equate it with the NFL's pre-season. That's where people go wrong. There are few things on this earth more meaningless than pre-seaon NFL games. However, spring training baseball is a season unto itself. People don't take off 2 weeks from work to travel to Arizona or Florida for a pre-season football game. They do however flock to spring training baseball games for a chance to experience major league baseball in the confines of minor league stadiums. One of my best memories as a child was sitting with my father and grandfather at a spring training game and just being in awe of how close we were to the action and how you could actually hear the players speaking to each other. Then last March, I went with three friends from work and sat in the front row on a sun splashed day shooting the breeze with the umpire between innings. You don't get those kind of experiences at an NFL pre-season game.

I concur. Not only 11 days til Truck Day but 17 days until Pitchers and Catchers report and 29 days until the first game.

Kinda weird that ST is so close. It's snowed four straight days in Pittsburgh (none of it accumulated, so what's the point, really?)

Yea but who cares about that stuff?

I was going to ask who was ready for some baseball. Yeah, it's not far away now. I tell myself I am not buying the out-of-market TV package, and of course I will buy it. Let's Go Sox!!!

Truck Day is one of my favorite holidays as it brings a little warmth to a dreary part of the year. Seeing the Sox play catch and scrimmage BC just makes the weather feel more tolerable as it reminds me that spring is coming.

Trying to buy single game tickets right now but in line online which i don't get how is possible
The new system is much better than in previous years. I like that they show your position in line, because you can see progress. In previous years, the virtual waiting room was random and you could sit there all day. I got through this morning in less than half an hour. I got tickets for August against Oakland and September against Tampa. I tried for July tickets, but only standing room was available for both weekends in July. I had purchased my April and May tickets in December. I would like to get something for July.

I'm so incredibly jealous of you people who are buying tickets to the Fens for this summer.

It's 60 degrees in Nashville today, and after it being 30 degrees everyday for the past few weeks, it feels like I should be out buying beer and hot dogs for a Sox/Yanks game tonight. Dammit. :thumbdown

15 days, 19 hours until P&C Report!!

Oh man, they sell $12 tickets still? I can't believe I just got a pair of Sox tickets--To a Rays game, no less--for that cheap today. Sure, there is 16 dollars worth of convenience fees.... but still, a day at fenway for $40?

Edit: Oh s***. I was really excited to get tickets for a day that looks like Lester will be pitching... but Lester in April. Yikes. Curt Young, answer my prayers.

Wouldn't count on Lester pitching. Rotations, especially in April, always get jumbled up.

I didn't try to get any tickets today. My dad has a season ticket share and I just spent a bunch of money on concert tickets.

Well, I usually can't predict those kinds of things, so I lined it up as best I could.

And after picking up a pair for the Apr 12 for a game, I figured, hell, for 40 bux, why not buy another set, so I'm heading to the game on May 9th against the Rangers as well.

All of you that got tickets go f*** yourself. :)

Have fun though.

I'm with you man. All I have is MLB.TV and other than that, I don't get to see s***.

I am getting the iPhone for Verizon, though, which plays the games live, so at least I'll be able to catch all the games on my phone if I'm away.

I also order MLB.TV

I watch the games either on my ps3 or my itouch. I watch everything except west coast games. They end way to late.

Did the ps3 service ever get fixed? When I used it last season it had serious serious lag issues.

I haven't used it since last season so I can't tell you whether it got fixed or not. When I did use it though it did lag a little bit. It pissed me off but hey I need my baseball haha. What I've noticed though if you watch the games a day later like I did when I couldn't watch the coast games it plays very smooth. I don't want to have to do that though for every game. I hope it gets fixed.
