Most flyball pitchers have below-average BABIP's, but not to that extent.

If you're giving up a lot of fly-balls, you're bound to give a higher percentage of gopher balls than your typical non-flyball pitcher (See: Milton, Eric) , because usually fly ball pitchers give up more long flyballs, and less infield fly balls, which is the strange thing with Cain, who, as i said, induces a lot of weak contact (10% infield fly ball for his career).

His career BABIP is .274, which isn't horrible considering he had the 5th highest percentage of fly balls in the MLB. Out of the 13 pitchers with the highest FB% last season, only one (Brian Matusz) had a BABIP over .300, and most weren't that close.

Giving up more fly balls should not have a large effect on how many of those fly balls turn into home runs, unless you're not that great of a pitcher (in which case, your other numbers will be terrible as well). While the number of IFFB% does seem to suppress your HR/FB% (just by my cursory glance of people who led the league in IFFB%), Cain's HR/FB% increases on the road, and his ERA increases dramatically (over his career), despite similar peripheral numbers.

I'm going to go with

Russell Martin C 5.05 million

and Alfredo Aceves RP 435k

JE has the next pick.

Hey is it alright if I change the list I sent a little earlier? I've kind of changed my mind after doing some research and I can make my pick now.

Infante is a nice utility man. I wanted Martin as my backup C, but after the hip surgery and knee surgery, I guess I can't be too upset I didn't get him.

David Robertson - RP ($426,650)

This might be the first time where WhiskeyBreath really took the player that I wanted, but I felt that this guy would be a sleeper since he didn't play last year due to injury.

JP Howell RP

Yeah man, it was either him or Aceves, and I figured that Aceves was less likely to make it back to me. Granted, I had more replacement options for Aceves than Howell, so I gambled for them both and lost. Damn it. The only thing that could help me is if Howell totally sucks ass next year.

Getting pushed out the door by my wife to go to the in laws. I'll be back sometime tomorrow. I'll try to check up on my phone, but no guarantees.

My pick:

Garrett Jones, 1B/OF, $425,000

Ital - I don't have any other picks lined up. I'll look while I'm away.
