I don't think splitting up the lefties and righties is worth having Martin hit 6th over Ortiz and Drew.

I could be wrong but isn't he showing what his lineup should be if the Sox get Martin versus not.

But Martin could hit 8 with scutaro 9.

EDIT: Sorry misread your post.

You can't think of it like that. Think of it as having 2 line ups in one.

Line up 1

Ells(speed)

Pedroia(OBP)

Agon(Run producer)

Youk(Run producer)

Line up 2

Crawford(speed)

Martin(OBP and solid base running ability)

Ortiz(with Crawford an Martin on the basepaths, he will have as many opportunities as Agon)

Drew(Run producer/OBP)

Scutaro/Lowrie(a combination of everything)

Crawford basically becomes your 2nd lead off hitter while hitting in the middle of the line up.

Martin is key in My opinion, The team needs bullpen but getting Martin would help the sox against the Yankees unless the Yankees pick up a real catcher.

great and i really hope Lee doesnt go to the yanks....then ill be really happy!

fat chance .... The yankee's will do everything to get Lee, even it means going 7 years at 25M a year .

Would love to see the Yankees pushed to 9/225. They'll do it--and get ridiculed. Lee may refuse it--too damn long. At 32, he might figure 6-7 years is the limit. And even that might be too long to be far from home.

This 'years' thing is overdone.

Looks like the Red Sox faked up the middle with Lee, then went around left end with Crawford. Caught the Yankees off guard. That's what generals are taught to do in war games.

You're totally and completely full of crap.

You were rubbing your boner at the possibility of him and Lee signing with the Yankees, hypocrite.

Quote me saying that.

Why would he refuse guaranteed money, especially for years when he may not be worth a damn? All he has to do is show up and go through the motions for a paycheck. I would totally do that if I was him.

Only question is whether Nationals and Anaheim (and Boston??) are serious enough to push it at least to 8 years.

I really want Saltalamacchia to get a real chance to break out

Some players don't necessarily want to play till they're 40.

So take the deal and just retire when you want to call it quits. At least you are guaranteed more jack than you'd get after baseball elsewhere.

Was asleep when the news broke.

Got a text first thing this morning from my nephew about the signing.

I was SHOCKED and PSYCHED!!!!

Wanted Crawford over Werth but after A-Gon, didn't think it would happen.

LOOOOOOOOOONG day at work, first time I've had a chance to post.

Welcome to the Red Sox Carl Crawford!!

Yes, believe or not, my old ass knows how to text! :D

As you should be, as people don't really lose their technological abilities until they hit their mid to late 30's, so you still have a few years. ;)

On the bright side' date=' this leaves a700 with [b']absolutely nothing to bitch about for the following season[/b] which makes me extremely happy.

Unfortunately, that will NEVER, EVER happen. :(

Atleast give it till mid May! Lester needs his warm-up month.

I'm good with the rotation. I think the lineup will hit enough that a weak pen shouldn't become a big issue before the end of May.:D

Even with your weak middle relief, the sox are a playoff team right now. I think Theo should be applauded by those who talked about how cheap he is. But should also be cautious to give him too much praise, as the Crawford deal was completely stupifying. Highest AAV EVER for an outfielder

Coming from the guy who's team is trying their hardest to drop 20-25M AAV for a number of years into a 32 year old pitchers lap . Is Lee's agent the same as Kevin Browns when he was playing? :D And they just brought back their 36 year old SS for 3X the $ he would have gotten anywhere else. Or let's not forget Arod making 27M AAV until he is 42.

So let's not get to high up on our horse when discussing big long term deals. Crawfors contract is better then any of those out side of Jeter's and that's only because it's for 3 years.

Theo deserves credit for saving and planning for the players he wanted. Not throwing it all away and trying to salvage lost causes. Yes we should be cautious, because we don't know how any of the deals will work out. I jut think the word of caution coming from you or any other Yankee fan about long term deals and how much they are worth is funny :D
