Reports out of Minny say that the Twins would be open to moving Francisco Liriano this season since he's under contract through 2012 and is at his highest value since 2006. If they do put him on the market' date=' he is exactly the kind of pitcher the Yanks could use behind CC[/quote']

I have a feeling they'd ask for Banuelos and then Robertson, Nunez and perhaps Laird to fill their INF and bullpen out. I'd love Liriano and he's a great pitcher but I'm too invested with Banuelos. I've followed him more than any other prospect.

Many of us had the same ordeal when the Sox and Twins where discussing Santana for Lester or Buchholz.

You have to use some caution about how much you give up and for who. A couple of those SP are going to be needed going forward. More so if CC where to opt out and leave town. That be bottom of the barrel-ville for the Yanks. Trade away there better Pitching prospects only to watch CC leave town and be stuck back where the were minus a few top prospects. Who knows the Yankees may not want top make a big trade until they know for sure what CC is doing. He can say all he wants, but until he officially declines that opt out, the Yankees need to act with caution.

I don't think the Yankees are worried about CC leaving. He might opt-out, but considering how much he apparently enjoys pitching here and the fact that the Yankees can offer him more money than anyone, I'm sure they're confident they would resign him.

I don't think the possibility of CC opting out is going to influence any decisions going forward.

Banuelos and Montero are off the table for Liriano, IMO.

I don't necessarily agree. What Liriano is right now is essentially Banuelos' ceiling. He seems to be completely recovered from his arm problems, and he had the third lowest FIP among MLB starters last year. He's also a LHP, which will play well to the park.

The injury issues are a concern as is his wildness. Regardless, our system is the deepest it has been since 1994/1995. We dont have to include our top guys to get what we want. That's the beauty of it. Betances is up for grabs, IMO, due to injury concerns, although he might be the best pitcher in the end.

Oh I agree, I'm just thinking what they'll ask for.

There are no guarantees, but by all accounts he has fully recovered from his past injury problems. As for his wildness - 2.72 BB/9 and 61.7 first pitch strike percentage in 2010. Seems pretty good to me.

I don't think the Yankees could make a serious run at Liriano without including Banuelos, and it's something they should definitely consider in my opinion.

I think we have ways around it' date=' to be totally honest. Betances and Noesi should be enough to offset the request of Banuelos. Noesi could be in the rotation now and Betances by 2012[/quote']

It's about quality though, not quantity. Banuelos is pretty far ahead of Betances and Noesi, and I think the Twins would be foolish to not demand him in any potential trade. Other teams are likely to put together very strong offers. However, if they could get Liriano without giving up Baneulos (and obviously Montero), I think it would be an absolute robbery.

Hughes for Felix doesnt help the Yankees all that much. And no, I am not saying that Hughes is Felix's equal. But Hughes has Felix's ceiling and already fills a pretty important role in the rotation. Hughes is out. Any trade for Felix starts with Montero. It would be a 4 prospect trade with Montero at the top, IMO. My guess is that one top notch pitcher goes, and I'd give them a choice between Joba or Betances. After that, I'd go out of the top 5 in our org for the final 2 spots. Maybe Noesi and Brandon Laird

Would you trade Hughes' date=' Joba, Montero and Betances for Felix? I'd imagine thats what it would take if Seattle were to ever trade him.[/quote']

no

Hughes has ace potential. Felix is an ace. Not sure what there is to laugh at

Ah mate, it would appear to me you are consciously trying to adhere the subjectivity of the word "ace" in a way that would make it suitable for your ill-conceived idea that Phil Hughes could reach the level of ability, "stuff" and control that the aforementioned Felix Hernandez presently exhibits.(Here is a hint for you good sir: No).

Anyways, if you are unwilling (or unable) to present a better argument than the use of a subjective and often misused term to present your position, then i hereby declare myself the victor, and i expect for you to, as soon as possible, hand over any and all previously acquired, built and upgraded defensive establishments to me.

Good day, and cheers mate!!
