Sox vs Burnett:

Ellsbury - .308, .333, .462, .795 (8 for 26, 1HR, 1BB, 4K)

Scutaro - .304, .385, .348, .732 (7 for 23, 3BB, 1K)

Ortiz - .256, .275, .615, .890 (10 for 39, 3HR , 1BB, 12K)

Martinez - .273, .448, .500, .948 (6 for 22, 1 HR, 6BB, 1K)

Drew - .267, .361, .367, .728 (8 for 30, 5BB, 7K)

Beltre - .323, .364, .613, .977 (10 for 31, 1HR, 2BB, 5K)

Kalish -

Hall - .182, .308, .364, .671 (2 for 11, 2BB, 5K)

Cash - (0 for 3, 2BB, 2K)

s***** lineup, but not much else to change. Lowrie and Lowell haven't had any success against Burnett. My one BIG problem is the order. Why is Beltre dropped into the 6 spot? He's the best hitter on the team and has had the most success against Burnett. What reason on Earth is there to hit JD and Vmart ahead of him?

Yankees lineup hasn't yet been announced, but here's their line against Beckett:

Jeter - .283, .317, .400, .717 (17 for 60, 2HR, 2BB, 7K)

Swisher - .280, .400, .520, .920 (7 for 25, 2HR, 5BB, 8K)

Teixeira - .143, .314, .143, .457 (4 for 28, 7BB, 10K)

Rodriguez - .294, .368, .490, .859 (15 for 51, 2 HR, 6BB, 10K)

Cano - .346, .404, .654, 1.057 (18 for 52, 3HR, 4BB, 6K)

Posada - .333, .389, .455, .843 (11 for 33, 1HR, 3BB, 10K)

Berkman - .167, .211, .389, .599 (3 for 18, 1HR, 1BB, 7K)

Granderson - .188, .188, .500, .688 (3 for 16, 1HR, 8K)

Gardner - .235, .278, .294, .572 (4 for 17, 1BB, 5K)

Cervelli - 2 for 5, 1BB

Pena - 0 for 3

Kearns - 0 for 4

Thames - 3 for 9, 1HR

Mosely is pitching? They had that off day before the Sox series so that means they probably are giving Hughes and Burnett 6 full days between starts.

Cash at catcher really sucks, but there's nothing they can really do-- its a late night game tonite, and a day game tomorrow, so its not good for Vmart. Plus Lowell needs the rest anyway.

I wasn't talking about tonights game. This one on ESPN i know that. I should have been more specific sorry. Tomorrows game is a day game.

Ahhhhh..... I thought there must have been a new time zone or something!:lol:

Never mind!;)

Beckett is 2-0 with a 2.18 ERA in 3 starts since returning from injury.

Moseley is an average pitcher. Never pitched more the 90 innings in a year and his lowest ERA in 4.30. In 5 ML seasons, he is 9-8 with a 5.25 ERA.

I dunno' date=' the Yanks typically hit Beckett well and Moseley will be foreign to them. I have a stronger feeling that Lester rights the ship tomorrow[/quote']

I would say the NYY hit Beckett more than well.

if the rays keep losing' date=' these next two games might not be as important as they appeared a few days ago. i hope we have a good game tonight[/quote']

Still extremely important. The Rays losing doesn't change that. Minnesota keeps winning.

the red sox have faced mosley 3 times and have scored 9 runs (8 earned) against him in 12.1 innings on 17 hits and 4 walks

they're still important games. i just don't think people will still be claiming that the season's over we split this series and we're only 3.5 games back of the rays

Sox lineup vs Moseley:

Ellsbury - 0 for 3

Scutaro - 2 for 5

Ortiz - 1 for 3

Martinez - 1 for 4

Drew - 2 for 6, HR, 2B

Beltre - 0 for 6, 2BB

Kalish -

Hall -

Cash -

I'm split about this. The Sox have had a ton of success against Burnett since joining the Skanks, but he still has the ability to completely dominate a game. On the flip side, the Sox always struggle against unknowns.

And the current players facing Moseley are hitting .238 vs him. The fact remains, he's pretty foreign to them

Absolutely.

The Rays may be faltering, but Sox fans are myopic.

The AL Wild Card race is more than just the Rays and Sox.

it's a game of contradictions on paper

beckett has pitched really well lately but he sucks against the yankees. mosley has gotten lit up against the red sox but he has good numbers against many of their starters tonight

ahhhhh, baseball :D

Minnesota is the only other team in the race and quite frankly I'm not too worried about them. The Rays are the better team and have the better record, so them losing is pretty big, even if it's to the Twins.

So the White Sox are out of it?

Nice play by Mosley.

The Twins get to face the Royals and the Guardians 19 times instead of NYY, TB, Boston, or Toronto. The Twins are not as good as the red sox. But based purely upon their division, you have to accept them as a possible wild card competitor

Twins should have picked up a starter at the deadline.
