So the White Sox are out of it?

Nice play by Mosley.

I'm expecting them to win the division. The point is, there is really only 1 other team outside of TB (and sox) that could win the Wild Card and it's Tampa I'm more worried about.

Personally, I'm all for trading Ellsbury if he can bring back some on the corners or another effective RP. I'm of the opinion that he's going to continue to frustrate with the s*** he just did there. Eagerly chasing anything near the strikezone and hitting the ball a feeble 25 feet. He needs to learn how to only swing at hitter's pitches when there are no strikes in the count, and in three years, he's shown little improvement there.

I understand.

However, should the Twins continue to surge, and the Rays falter, the White Sox are a "Wild Card".

Nothing is given. Certainly at this point.

I agree with you, but I also think a lot of us are thinking from the standpoint that either the Yankees or the Rays will have to drop behind us if we are to make the playoffs, so it really doesn't matter at this point. TB winning is a lot more dangerous than the Twins winning. There are a lot of factors that could go on with the Twins and White Sox but we have a stopgap in our own division. If TB and New York keep winning, nothing else matters, we aren't going anywhere.

I would pay good $ to be able to listen to the Red Sox radio broadcast while watching the ESPN tv feed.

Your observations are two years old. Had he been healthy this season, he may have fulfilled your desires. You know, sort of like his numbers have improved during the two previous years.

ORS' comments are proven, albeit through a 2 yr sample size.

Ellsbury's IsoPatience in his 2 full yrs are almost entirely identical. .056 and .054. For a guy with his skill set, taking more pitches and getting on base is in the team's best interests

Sure they are two years old, but that's kind of the point. He's still doing the stupid things he was doing two years ago. When he stops doing them, then this defense of him will be valid.

his improved defense has been the biggest thing for me. if his obp still doesn't come around, they could always bat him 9th

i think you have to get through joba first ;)

Joba has either been lights out or terrible this yr. He's on a good streak since being removed from the setup role. 5.1IP 1H 0ER 5K 1BB.

Speaking of Joba. Kinda interesting stats. It seems like his stuff is mental more than anything.

He went into a game on May 16th with a 2.16ERA. He then allowed 10ER in his next 5IP. He then allowed 6ER in his next 14.2IP (3.67ERA) but showed continued problems with control. He then allowed 10ER over his next 6IP. This removed him from the setup role and essentially has put him back on track again. I know you cannot just remove samples, but if you remove his two bad streaks, you have 8ER in 36.2IP, for a 1.96ERA. This tells me he has two problems.

1. He has been inconsistent in his command

2. He lacks mental toughness.

His stuff is back, throwing 97-98 consistently of late. He just lacks trust in his stuff

his stuff has never been an issue, it's his control

Whenever Joba comes up, I always want to post the picture of him with the bugs all over his face. I honestly think that ever since he lost that game, he hasn't been the same pitcher.
