Wow you guys are insane about walks. I think most people just prefer guys who get more hits. A hit with the bases load > than a walk, by a long shot.

 

But yes, walks are good. I think the key is just taking what the pitcher gives you. If he doesn't give you anything to hit, work the count and try to get a walk or a mistake. If he gives you a good pitch to hit, don't take it looking for a walk, crush it. I personally don't like the red-light on a 3-0 count for anyone who can hit. Chances are they are going to get a good pitch to hit... so hit it.
