This is overly simplistic. The argument has never been the value of a HR vs the value of a BB. Your entire gripe against Drew has been that you don't care that he gets on base because he doesn't drive in runs. The problem with that' date=' which is the root error of this over simplification, is that you are assuming that another positive result will be had if he swings away rather than taking pitches when the pitcher is being fine.[/quote']

OBP' date=' when looked at as whole, contains every type of hit, walks, and HBP. I just took the "You love walks" words rhet put in my mouth and ran with them.[/quote']

Yeah, I agree. That's why OPS is the best "single" stat to look at. Combines a ton into one good stat.

I also agree about Drew. I think he has a good approach. The only two problems with him are staying on the field and being consistent. One isn't exactly in his control (health) and the other just tends to happen with ball players (streaks). Is he perfect, no, but he's a very good outfielder.

Stupid fans!! Good hes getting kicked out

I hate fan intervention, whether it's for or against. Except for Bartman, because the way the Cubs imploded after that was awesome.

It's not the best single stat, but it's the best easy to calculate one.

The best single stat is probably Linear Weights, where they have determined the run value of all offensive outputs.

HR + 3B + 2B + 1B + BB + HBP + IBB + OUT + SF + SH + SB + CS = Total Team Runs Scored

You get 30 of these equations in a single season, and with that many equations, you can determine the value of each through the solution to a system of equations. You can take these values and average them over a period of years, giving you a more accurate number.

How in God's name do you K against a guy who is throwing nothing but heat?

Yeah, Rivera never strikes anyone until he starts changing speeds.

This isn't to say he's anywhere near Rivera's ability right now, because he isn't locating, but you should know the answer to this.
