  1. Varitek's C should be imprinted on the clubhouse toilet paper. Pokey Reese had more leadership skills.
  2. I usually stay in Coolidge Corner or Harvard Sq for 250 a night, but this year looks more like 300 or so there. Little cheaper if you stay by a further out T stop like Riverside.
  3. Glad both he and the GM who signed him are gone
  4. except at Tropicana Field at game time still, hard to talk smack about the Rays, no one north of Ocala can name a Ray, there's no pink hat, blue hat, or any color hat fanbase, their prospects produce, they win with no $, their GM is much better than ours, they were smart enough to let Carl Crawford go...
  5. The more money he's given, the worse Theo does. Does OK scouring around for undervalued guys or making trades, but the man is dangerous when allowed to write big checks.
  6. I'm glad boy wonder has followed all the Sabermetric conventional wisdom in building this "defensive" team that can't hit s***.
  7. might be better off paying Crawford $142 million to go back to the Rays
  8. Theo likes following the fashionable saber-trends, and defense has replaced walks as the flavor of the month. What bothers me about Crawford is that his replacement in Tampa, Desmond Jennings, also has tremendous speed, but a lot more patience at the plate, and a strong .8 BB/K for his MiLB career.
  9. after two seasons, still not into these strange road unis, too much like the boring 70-80s road jerseys, wish they'd bring back the red "Boston"
  10. I think the point of this is that Shaughnessy's been writing provocative junk for decades.
  11. like most of the players, except JD Drew team's a lot more likeable than 10 years ago when it was full of head cases
  12. There are a ton of fans, including me, who come up from DC. We have a number of Red Sox bars.
  13. he is, but also encouraging to see Ryan Kalish walking in Portland like he did last year in the Sally league - 15 BBs already with an OBP pushing .400
  14. http://www.yingster.net/software/8ball/picts/8ball_0.jpg
  15. Matusz great start erased, Sox always struggle with these young power pitchers
  16. not even close - Pedroia still just 26, gives you great D up the middle, great bat, and most important, brings a persistently strong effort to every at bat, every ground ball, every game
  17. one of the softest players I've ever seen - watched him a lot when he was with the Nationals, cannot play through even the slightest pain
  18. their pitching has been like that for years - wild still concerned about just 6 hits for the Sox tonight, least intimidating lineup we've had in decades
  19. even the Nationals are better than the Orioles this year
  20. paying Lugo to try and beat us now
  21. no, in Fenway, but I'm watching the Oriole announcers in DC
