That's right. You would play the Twins. If we beat up on you this weekend that should end up being a good thing by lining you up with the Twins. Who wins the tiebreaker?

the yankees going on the road to face the twins in the alds isn't a walk in a the park. the twins have the best home record in baseball and they'll be using two lefties in the playoffs

as for a tiebreaker between the yankees and rays, the rays would win the division because they have the better head-to-head record

Yankees already have a playoff spot' date=' they don't need to play there best players everyday for the sake of having the best record in baseball[/quote']

You think a playoff spot is guaranteed if the Yankees lose tomorrow?

Although the chances of the Sox going to the playoffs are getting slim you don't have a "guaranteed" spot. You don't have the best record in baseball anymore so...

Of course their spot is guaranteed, it's the Yankees, they can clinch without mathematically eliminating their opponents. Intangibles FTW.

Okay "nearly" guaranteed, the elimination number still at three, meaning any combination of Yankees wins and Red Sox losses would end Boston's chance

According to Jacko yes. Y228 is a reasonable yankees fan. He makes sense. Those are hard to find.

i agree, y228 might be the most reasonable person on this site. that wasn't meant towards him, it was just a joke about the yankees

what are you talking about? didn't the yankees clinch in april like they usually do?

Erroneous, they clinched in Spring Training.

man is it fun to watch the yankees look like the best team in baseball most of the year and then implode at the end. i think the red sox might have a better chance in the playoffs

Yankees are losing 5-7. Now watch "if" they take the lead Jacko magically appears. Yankees have only scored runs due to HRs last couple days. The whole Sox/Yankees series they've scored most their runs via HR. Tonight same thing.

I was working last night and guess what, I am working again tonight. I have tomorrow night off just in case you are wondering, seeing as you seem to be stalking me. It's called a good job. Love the fact that you are obsessed with my not being part of the game thread though.

Back to the game. Good to see the offense put up a fight. Burnett is quickly pitching himself into the #4 spot in the playoff rotation. Who knows, I might rather have Nova go.

Who is trolling now? You are in the Yankee forum side essentially baiting as you usually do. Regardless, enjoy the fact that you dont get to watch baseball this post-season. I understand that you must be frustrated and need to take it out on someone. So go for it Yaz, let it out. You wasted another 6 months of your life rooting for a team that history will forget.

I thought that was the plan all along? If he pitches tonight and we clinch' date=' be it via win or sox loss, then he can have 7 days off before he opens up the ALDS[/quote']

If they had clinched last night, I'm almost positive (based on his comments) that Joe would have held CC off till Friday. CC doesn't want to have that much rest between his last regular season start and his first postseason start. If they clinch sometime this week, I'm very curious to see how they handle it, possibly throwing him a few innings on either Friday or Saturday.

Seems the Yankees will be facing the Twins in the first round. They can go with a 3 man rotation, having CC Pitch games 1 then short rest for game 4, have Pettitte pitch game 2 and be on full rest for game 5, then have Hughes pitch game 3. I don't see them giving Burnett the ball seeing how absolutely awful he's been. Not to mention Lefties match up well against the Twins

Pettitte is still not where he needs to be. I think he needs to put as the 3 with CC and Hughes as 1-2.
