The boy can fly. Extremely speedy.

That he can. But he's made a ton of progress at the dish. He used to have an uppercut swing, and for a kid with his skills, thats a waste. Now, he hits down on everything and has learned the zone a bit. He spoils so many good pitches. f***ing love this kid

My hope is that CC gives up a hit to the first batter and they pull him. He's over 100 pitches in his second start of the season. I dont want to see CC throw 140 today

I was hoping he would throw around 140. That was the exact number that popped into my head. Oh well.

Fantastic all around game. Great pitching (obviously), and the bats were all very patience today. Almost every single hitter had a decent day.

Still a bit disappointed about CC, but so be it. And only the Yankees could pitch a two hitter, and still play a three hour and twenty minute game. But guess what Joe West, I love it.

Jacko, there wasn't a great look at what Cervelli was doing on the play at the plate. I don't really think it would have matter though, as I'm not sure if Granderson could have gotten to the plate by sliding.

According to Girardi, Shoppach would have been CC's last hitter no matter what. Apparently CC didn't know that when he took the mound in the 8th inning, but he was told after he came out. CC said he understood, but he would have tried to talk Joe out of it.

I disagree, sliding to the outside of the base lets him hook slide in past the blocking foot. You are supposed to wave to which side the player should slide. Regardless, nobody got hurt and we won by 10.

Hey Jacko...did you actually watch the game?

I'm not being facetious, I'm just wondering if you saw how good a job Cervelli did behind the plate. Now watch what happens tomorrow.

It's possible, but it would have been extremely tough for Granderson to get his left hand in there. If there was a window, it wasn't a big one. It's definitely an injury risk, but it's possible that his best shot to score was to dislodge the ball from the catcher.

From what I hear Cervelli works very well with the pitchers. However, there was nothing that you could tell from actually watching the game that would make you think this. And Gom, he wasn't framing pitches and getting borderline strike calls for CC.

He got about 5 strike calls that were borderline by my count. Pitches that Posada would have probably caught and turned around and punched the umpire in the throat.

And there were plenty of borderline calls that he didn't get. It was nothing that Cervelli was doing differently, it was just a typically umped game.

Cervelli called a great game. I watched him frame and I think Cervelli can improve his framing skills. Unless you've put on the tools of ignorance and actually tried to frame pitches, your opinion on the matter is meaningless.

It is all in the wrists. It's not moving a pitch after its caught. It's catching it in a manner that expands the corners by a glove-length and flexing your wrist as your are catching it. Cervelli was deficient at times in that. But a good umpire usually isnt swayed by all frame jobs. For how much s*** you give him, Posada is excellent at framing pitches. His blocking skills are subpar, he calls a mediocre game and his mechanics in throwing out runners could improve, but his framing skills are really solid. Cervelli called a hell of a game and has superior blocking skills to anything Posada can muster.

Regardless, pinning this game on Cervelli, good or bad is kinda dumb. CC was unhittable.

Thus far, couldnt be happier with the start of the season. We've had 2 solid pitching performances, 2 poor ones and one horrible one. The pen has been lights out except for game 1. While the offense hasnt been great, it has been pretty solid at getting runs home. Once they heat up, especially Johnson, Tex, and ARod, this lineup should be pretty sweet. Taking 3 out of 5 to start the yr vs the Sox and TB on the road is nice. Winning tonight would be icing on the cake going into a tough homestand. Facing Anaheim 6 times, Boston 3 times, Texas 3 times, and TB 3 times in the first month is a bit rough. 15 of our first 22 games are vs playoff contenders.

I'll take the out from Zobrist. Awful decision.

AJ, once again, looks like crap. He's so frustrating, and especially when he's pitching on the road, it always seems like the Yankees are behind the eight ball.

Good inning from AJ.

Shields really looks awful, as every hit besides Swisher and A-Rod (who didn't see any strikes) either hit the ball hard, or had multiple opportunities to hit the ball hard. It's frustrating that they only have one run through two innings, as it easily could have been much more. Hopefully that changes the second and third times through the order.

Much better inning from Shields. And classic Rays, not showing Teixeira's numbers on the scoreboard.

Whether it's blocking second base, running over catchers in spring training, or throwing at Teixeira at the end of last season (because CC hit Pena on the hand on a two strike pitch) you can also count on some questionable garbage from Joe Maddon's Rays.
