Does anyone here read this blog, or whatever you'd like to call it?

Well, if anyone does, or just skims/browses it....does anyone else think whoever writes it really hates the Red Sox? Or is just a really miserable person? It seems like they never stop bitching about how bad things are...the moves we're making, the state of the team, tickets, the stadium, etc...it never stops. It's gotten to the humorous point at times this offseason.

I just wanted to see if I was the only one or if this was a shared feeling...

Well let me offer a little insight into how things work.

The Boston Herald is the go-to newspaper for the Red Sox front office. They feed them stories about Casey Kotchman and other grand ideas.

The Boston Globe which is associated with Boston Dirt Dogs is basically the opposite, they just s*** on everything.

That makes sense, thanks for shedding some light on that. I agree with you BoSox21, I always go back, just to read what they're thinking, but if it was the thoughts of a single guy for instance, I would really hate to have him as a friend. They're so miserable. I think it's really run by Yankee fans...even when we win, there's something wrong.

How do you know this (not doubting you, just an honest question)?

The Boston Herald posted a positive story about Kotchman, remember? Theo gave them that story

I've heard the same thing.

I haven't been to dirt dogs in a while, guess I need to go back and see what they are doing. It's like a train wreck, you can't help but look.

I always got the vibe that the Globe was the mouthpiece for the Sox (filtered from Larry Luchiano to Shank) and the Herald and Weei were in cahoots once the Globe reporters were banned from appearing on Weei.

But yeah, I think since the Globe bought BDDs site, the site has sucked. It's almost like they are trying to act like the dick fans to make a point. When BDDs first popped up, it was one of the only decent sites devoted to the sox at the time. Then it got extremely popular and the Globe bought it. I always thought because of the partial ownership in the Sox, that the Globe wanted to control the content.

BDD is now my last stop for sox news on any given day because there's really nothing special about it anymore, other than the random Manny link from the LA Times or picture of Arod and Jetes having a pillow fight.

As for online content, I always hit the Globe because, to me, the writing is 10x better than the herald and I think the herald is on a word count, so the Globe's stories are always around 2 pages and the herald is just a tad over 1 page per story - Sports section anyway.

I don't read the Herald anymore. I prefer the Globe and their writers (especially Nick Cafardo and Amelie Benjamin), never have been a fan of Dan Shank and glad Edes is now writing for ESPN. Edes left around the same time Manny did because his main job was to s*** all over Manny at any given chance.

I take the Boston Dirt Dogs with a grain of salt. Sometimes they make me laugh but they are way too negative and sarcastic, but like others, I continue to go back.

One of my favorites was in 2004 (I think) and there was a picture of David Ortiz and Sammy Sosa together, the caption was "Papi and Corky"....still laugh about it to this day for some reason.

I think the best part about the site is the sidebar with links from the major boston news sites on the side. Its the fastest way to get Sox news I've found so far. The Rotoworld sidebar doesn't hurt either.

Doesn't the Globe own part of the Red Sox?

Or did they sell their share last year when they almost went bankrupt?

It is every Red Sox fan's God-given right to be grumpy and cynical....we earned it

Don't see any reason to be that way, especially after 2004 and 2007.

Good morning sox fans and you other assorted ankle biting cock gobblers.

The Globe has a better sports section than the herald but I want half their sports writers to catch on fire in front of their families...They all take their cues from the angry Bozo look a like, Dan the man Shaughnessy and seem to be full of nothing but contempt for the entire organization.

They are the 1st line of defense for the sox brass, the Globe is an extension of the F/O and when someones on their way out of town its usually the globe that breaks stories about drug use, drinking, binge eating and chasing tail around town....Many should remember what they did to Mo Vaughn before he moved onto Anaheim??...Disgraceful and even though it all may have been true they simply crossed the line of decency...Ask Schilling what he thinks of the Globe staff, he'll be honest in his disgust.

You're right, VA SF what was I thinking.....04 and 07 were awsome and should have deadened the pain of all the disapointments that went before.......

I stopped reading BDD a few years ago. Some of the posts seemed to be a tad on the racist side, so I figured that I had better things to do.
