Well' date=' after this season, we will get the chance to compare how Cameron does at Fenway to how Damon did. [b'] Of course, we will have to factor in weather and climate changes.[/b]

I was joking' date=' but I am still not convinced that Cameron is as good as Damon offensively.[/quote']

That's fine, everyone's entitled to their own opinion. I'm looking forward to seeing what kind of a hitter Cameron could be in Fenway Park. He looks like a deal pull power hitter from his hit chart. 12 of his 14 home runs at home were to dead left field.

Tell me about it, our offense on the road last year sucked. I think we're much better off without Varitek (.182/.281/.310 on the road) and Green (.206/.284/.290 hitter on the road) making automatic outs every time through the order.

I would have liked Thames much more than Winn. If they do add another outfielder on top of Winn that just proves that the $2mil left in the budget was ******** and they could have gotten Damon. It also means that they may very well send Hoffman back to the Dodgers.

Nationals are talking with Adam Dunn about an extension

Tigers talking extension deal with Justin Verlander, 5 years/$75 million. He wants a guaranteed 6th year

Mets signed RHP Josh Fogg to a minor league contract

Fogg, 33, posted a 3.74 ERA and 1.14 WHIP in 45 2/3 innings (one start) with the Rockies last season. He was the beneficiary of some pretty substantial good luck, however, and isn't likely to repeat. It's not yet clear if the Mets will try him out as a starter this spring or stick him in the bullpen.

Wow, that would be a steal of the Tigers could work that out with Verlander. Of course, there is more of a risk in a long-term deal like that. But I'd say it would be a major positive for them.

I like to see good, young players stick with their teams. Of course I wouldn't mind Mauer on the Red Sox either. I guess I'm a hypocrite, but I'm OK with that.

Mets signed Frank Catalanotto to a minor league deal. Nice move, I've always liked the native Long Islander and hope he gets a chance to crack the squad. His versatility will add great depth, and he has a good baseball mind, which seems to escape most people involved with the Mets.

They needed the depth with Beltran out. He has always killed the Sox.

Hudson wants $9 million from the Nats' date=' being kinda greedy there. He wont get that figure from any team[/quote']Sheets got $10 million, so who knows.

Non transaction related, but the Dodgers will be wearing this patch on their jerseys this year.

http://mlb.imageg.net/graphics/product_images/pMLB2-5669697dt.jpg

While I absolutely LOVE the patch, I think it's stupid to commemorate the 55th anniversary of something that happened on the other side of the country. Being that it's the 55th anniversary of 1955 makes it kinda cool, but they should have recognized it in '05, not '10. Glad to see them doing a better job acknowledging their Brooklyn roots.

It's ridiculous. They are going to commemorate a Championship won in a community that they left. The Dodgers leaving Brooklyn tore the soul from that community. They have no right to celebrate or commemorate something that is Brooklyn's. This ownership group is not the group that left Brooklyn. At least they would have had the argument that they owned the team when it was in Brooklyn so it was their accomplishment. This ownership group bought the Los Angeles Dodgers. Please stop profiting from the community that you ruined.

I absolutely agree. While the patch is sick, I think it's an incredibly tasteless idea. There's people still today devastated over the loss of their Dodgers, and rightfully so. You have a better idea of how affected the community than I do, all I have to go on is stories from family members and other older Brooklyn Dodger fans, but what O'Malley did to those people was horrible (although I think Moses is as much to blame, as all he offered was the land where Shea was eventually built....can't move the Brooklyn Dodgers to Queens!), and now for McCourt to try and profit off of the only great memory Brooklyn fans, many of whom don't even acknowledge the LA Dodgers, is disgraceful. I understand his wallet took a hit from his divorce, but c'mon!

Mauer agreeing to stay with the Twins for 10 more years?

http://www.wkbt.com/Global/story.asp?S=11914510

Good for him, that's awesome.

Also, Kevin Millar agreed to a minor league deal with the Cubs, and the Giants are set to sign both Horacio Ramirez and Byung-Hyun Kim, who hasn't been in baseball since having his minor league deal bought out by the Pirates after spring training in '08.

Well' date=' there goes the crown jewel for the 2010 off season. I expect Pujols will stay with the Cards. No big bats will be hiting the market next season. They should have made a bigger play for Matt Holliday, IMO.[/quote']

Remember they offered him a Lackey-type contract before they went for Lackey himself. It would have been much worse if they made the bigger play for Holliday, and he ended up signing for the Cards to that ridiculous contract (length-wise) and Lackey signed somewhere, thus having Theo getting caught with his pants down just like last year, and we were very critical for him because of that. Besides, there's still a player the Sox could make a run at in Derrek Lee IMO, i like his bat for Fenway.

In his defense, the two years that he hasn't been excellent since 2005, he's been injured, but 2009 is an indication of what the guy can do when fully healthy:

.306 /.393 /.579 .972 OPS 73 XBH (35 HR, 36 2B, 2 3B )

Not a big bopper among them, with the possible exception of Berkman, who is damaged goods. Mauer has been taken off the board.
