Because he's doing great right now.

He's a fantastic ballplayer. Best offensive 2B in the league right now. Anyone can slump through a short series. Stop that.

Wow' date=' that was nonchalant. He looked like he didn't care if he caught it.[/quote']

if he drops it he will still get one of them.

For a guy that people talk about as an MVP candidate' date=' Teixeira is incredibly streaky.[/quote']

Don't be so reactionary.

Without Tex, the Yanks don't even make the playoffs.

I realize that, and I'm not being reactionary. I have said it the entire postseason. Teixeira is an excellent player, but, at least his year, he is incredibly streaky. That is an accurate observation.

Want me to make you a list of extremely streaky elite performers?

I made the point that he has been very streaky this year. It's a fact. It's hurting the Yankees right now. Why is there a reason to pursue this?

The bolded part is my point.

Whether he is or isn't streaky, he's still an elite performer and worthy MVP candidate.

A lot of the better players in the league are extremely streaky, and Ryan Howard, his counterpart for the Phillies, come to mind.

Fair enough. I should have left the MVP part out.

They're not even going to get into the Phillies' bullpen.

EDIT: Unless they want to limit his pitch count because they feel that is necessary if they want to bring him back in game four.

I'm begging the baseball Gods to let Lee go all the way.

He's gone up over 120 pitches a number of different times this year. Unless the Yankees' bottom of the order really makes him work in 8th (not going to happen), I expect to see him going the distance.

Not so much because the Yankees lose, but because Jacko kept running his mouth about how much better equipped to go the distance CC is over Lee.

I immediately pointed out Lee's 6 CGs and 2 Sho's as opposed to CC's2 and 1, with his response being that Yankees work pitchers, something that anyone who knows anything about Phillie knows they do as well. Specially Rollins, Utley and Ibanez.
