the peril of two word or one name answers is that it runs the risk of leaving the probable intended target of the message with no fracking idea what you're talking about or why you're mentioning the guy.

Hall's pretty easy to forget. We're basically getting paid to have him on our team after all.

Hell, we do that favor to other teams so often, it's nice to have it happen to us for a change.

So are the sox looking to pick up a big bat or are we done for now ? I really like the Lackey pick up !!!

If they found $100 million under a pile of papers on someones desk, they still wouldn't get a big bat before the season starts.

$100 million won't help them with a big bat, we don't have anyone on the FA who would be an upgrade, and there are very few big boppers out there anyways, and none of the possible trades are worth it, the team as constructed is a very good team, look for the TDL for a possible pick up depending on how the teams doing and what teams are asking for in return

It would make things easier for the Sox if by the trading deadline, Ortiz is having another 1st half slump. If they knew they could get a deal in place for A-Gon, theyd bite the media bullet and release Ortiz. In the offseason it wouldnt matter as both Ortiz and Beltre will be free agents

Nothing would be made easier by Ortiz having a slump for 2/3 of the season.

It would be made easier on how to make room for Gonzalez during this season.

It's called a "barrel."

We'd be over it.

Believe me, that more than makes up for any roster move advantages.

Right because he's going to have a repeat of this past season. 8 HRs' date=' 44 RBIs [/quote']

No, because even if he doesn't he's still pretty fungible. Third basemen of any dependable quality are a difficult commodity to find right now, if Beltre doesn't bounce back, cut him, and if he does, it should be dead easy to find him another home.

If Beltre's hitting and Ortiz is sucking, Beltre's staying.

If Ortiz is hitting and Beltre is sucking, Ortiz is staying.

Common sense.

LOGIC. STOP IT.

Well, considering that the Sox were ahead of the Yankees during most of Ortiz's slump in 2009, I think they will be able to handle it.

The Yankees have been a second half team for quite some time now aside from 2008 when injuries derailed them. Heck, even in 2008 our post ASB record was pretty good.

2009- 52-22 .703

2008- 39-28 .582

2007- 51-25 .671

2006- 47-29 .618

2005- 49-27 .645

So while I disagree that the sox would be 15 games out come the deadline if Ortiz is still slumping, I do think that they are f***ed beyond a shadow of a doubt for the division if they arent well ahead of NY come the ASB. And Ortiz slumping would likely preclude that

Yes, because we all know that teams repeat the same trends every year. I have a feeling this is just an excuse for you to say, "this is right where we want you" if the Sox are leading the division in the first half.

Eventually' date=' it becomes a trend.[/quote']

Oh?

So a couple of years of good second half winning percentage is about to become a trend but Javier Vasquez' 12-year sample size cannot constitute a trend? Interesting.

Not with the Sox, but according to Tim Brown, Bobby Kielty is converting to a pitcher haha

Now thats interesting.. But I doubt he'll get a shot at ever even coming close to pitching in majors.

True, but it doesn't matter. I think regardless of if he is pitching or not, he's likely done at the Major League level.

Just throwing this out there, I know the offseason is pretty much wrapped up, but if Ortiz struggles......do they revisit Todd Helton?
