Ilya Kovalchuk's days as a member of the Atlanta Thrashers appear to be numbered.

Thrashers general manager Don Waddell met with the star forward on Wednesday and told him to expect a trade to another NHL team over the next few hours or days.

The Bruins are believed to be one of the finalists and when they recently put Michael Ryder on the market, the Hawks showed interest. Should be an exciting few days.

What teams would be interested in trading for Thomas?

There are always a few contenders who can score but feel they're a goaltender away, and with 2 solid tenders and zero half-decent scoring, I'd assume it wouldn't be that difficult to sell someone last year's Vezina winner as a possible "Final Piece Of The Puzzle."

Just got back from work. Sucks that we lost our 9th in a row... but at least we got points in overtime. Those haven't been easy to come by lately.

Looks like Kovalchuck was dealt to the Devils. He was the sexiest name on the market, but it would have really hurt our future to trade for him without being able to extend him.

I'd be happy if we could just win a game. Realistically, if the Bruins want to go anywhere in the playoffs, they need to get the 6 seed, which they can still get. There is still time, but this stretch of play is terrible to watch.

I'd be ecstatic if we could end up with Whitney at this point.

I'm not a big fan of renting Whitney for the rest of this season. This team has too many problems right now to give up something of worth for him.

Bruins blow another 2 goal lead and lose in yet another shootout. If there is one thing Rask can't do, its win shootouts. This team can't score in shootouts and once the other teams scores we are screwed. 10 in a row.... wow

Bruins win again! This time against the best team in the conference. It's the young guys, Rask and Krejci, that are carrying this team. It certainly looks like we're turning things around now, just in time to get some momentum going into the break.

Nice to see Rask get the W tonight after allowing that second goal. That was a kick to the balls.

I wouldn't say the Sabres are the best in the conf. though, I would go with Washington easily.

My bad, I meant to say division. Still, the Sabres are one of the better teams in the conference.

Bruins siting in 9th place,2 points behind the Lightning, so this is a huge game. As much as I would love to see Tim Thomas traded, I don't think he will be. He has three full years left on the contract and has no trade clause, so who is to say he would even want to leave. Giving Thomas that deal was one of only a few slip ups PC has made

If Rask takes over the team, Thomas will waive his NTC to go to any contender. It might be prudent to hold onto him one more year cap permitting though. A competent veteran tender is crucial when trying to break in a young goalie. Look at all the entertainment Montreal's had breaking in Price -- and that's a talented kid, let's not fool ourselves about that. So if we do get Thomas off the roster, at the least it's essential that we get a competent veteran to replace him.
