I guess it's love him or hate him.

I love him. He has enhanced my Red Sox experience multi-fold.

Yeah, his corny stuff with Don could get tiresome. However I always liked having their dialog in the background in my home. Even if I was not actually watching the TV hearing their voices comforted me.

Remy has had a rocky road in recent years. I am not one to assume that his life went sour because of him being a dick or a bad parent. There seems to be little evidence of that so spare me your anti-Remy speech.

I know OB is very good and he has grown on me somewhat. I just miss the days of Don and Jerry doing the games. It was like being with two friends while watching the game.

When we finally lose Remy it will be a completely different game experience.

I guess that I am just an Old Bastard stuck in my ways.

I miss Johnny Most, Gil and Gino too.

high above the gahhhdin floor sat Johnny. I listened to almost every game he broadcasted back in the mid 60's. I hope Jerry Remy gets through this with flying colors. Although I have always enjoyed listening to him, I enjoyed watching him play even more.

It is being reported that RemDawg is being treated for recurrence of lung cancer. Get well, Jerry!

That really stinks. I wish him the best.

OB has done a good job, but I still prefer Don.

I love Jerry and his message is a good one. It never ceases to amaze me how many really great athletes were able to be great and still be smokers. You just wouldn't have expected it from a runner like Remy. It does sound like he is doing well though and feeling good.

That's the 70s, remember Yaz being a smoker also. I can't imagine there are many ball players that smoke now.

Must have gone into the clubhouse when he wasn't on the field.
During BP he would smoke in the dugout even though that was not allowed. During the game, he ducked into the runway.

Does anyone but me find it a bit tasteless that one of NESN's sponsors is now doing spots heralding Jerry Remy? Jerry's 'a tough ol' bird' and Jerry may well be saying next season (to paraphrase Mark Twain) "Implications of my death have been greatly exaggerated".

IMO we should be just wishing him the best and saving spots like that just in case things don't work out as well as we hope.

It's because it's his 30th year on the job, not because they think he's checking out.

30 years is a great accomplishment. I don't see it as being tasteless at all.
