Good to have him back. Hope they keep Eckersley on part time.

Wonder what it would be like with the 3 of them?:dunno:

Somehow I think our tender feelings aren't the primary concern this time.

I'm glad he's on the far side of his treatment and wish him well.

Remy and Eckersley are both very good color guys. I would love to see both of them work for this team on a regular basis. Eck breaks down pitching better than most announcers do (even other pitchers) and Remy can really be funny sometimes and has a pretty broad knowledge of the game and a deep knowledge of the last decade or so of Red Sox baseball (having done most of the games).

I would hate for either of those guys to have a lesser role in the future.

Awesome news.

Did I hear right during the game tonight that we have used TWENTY SIX different replacement announcers?

yea, I heard something like 23-24 on EEI a little while ago and that was before Viola and god knows who else started

Didnt Montgomery used to do color for the Sox back before NESN was the only sox program?

Hell yeah - Tv 38! Him and Ned were the two best Sox announcers of my life. Remy's ok and I love Eck, but Monty was AWESOME when he came back. f*** you Jacoby_Ellsbury, he sounded great.

If I had a choice in it all, it would be:

Orsillo/Montgomery

Orsillo/Eck

Orsillo/Remy

AND NO. PLEASE, GOD, NO THREE-MAN BOOTH. I watch on extra innings and I get to watch other team's broadcasts and the three man booth SUCKS. There's even a 6 man booth I think somewhere in the NL where it's 3 guys for the first 5 innings and a different set of 3 guys for the last 4. It sucks.

How about Remy on Beckett and Lester starts, Monty the Wakefield games and the rest go to Eck?? I like this rotation.

It is being reported that RemDawg is being treated for recurrence of lung cancer. Get well, Jerry!

NESN announced Monday that Jerry Remy, who is entering his 30th season as the color analyst on Red Sox television broadcasts, is being treated for a relapse of lung cancer.

The network said Remy plans to be in the broadcast booth this season, and that he would discuss his latest battle with cancer Monday at 3 p.m. at NESN’s studio.

“I’ve been diagnosed with cancer again but it’s under control” Remy said on Twitter Monday.

From what I understand, it seems like it is under control. Hate to see it happen, but I loved OB, Eck, and/or Steve on those long road trips last year.

I guess it's love him or hate him.

I love him. He has enhanced my Red Sox experience multi-fold.

Yeah, his corny stuff with Don could get tiresome. However I always liked having their dialog in the background in my home. Even if I was not actually watching the TV hearing their voices comforted me.

Remy has had a rocky road in recent years. I am not one to assume that his life went sour because of him being a dick or a bad parent. There seems to be little evidence of that so spare me your anti-Remy speech.

I know OB is very good and he has grown on me somewhat. I just miss the days of Don and Jerry doing the games. It was like being with two friends while watching the game.

When we finally lose Remy it will be a completely different game experience.

I guess that I am just an Old Bastard stuck in my ways.

I miss Johnny Most, Gil and Gino too.

I agree. I like those three guys too but they were like being on vacation. At the end of the day it's always nice to come home to Jerry.

Get well soon.

Perfectly stated S5.
