Michael Young is not a SS.

Is that so hard to understand?

THe point is that he WAS. Almost every SS eventually moves to a corner position when they get old. I never said I wanted Young. I said I wanted a Young type of SS, ie good. Some of you guys seem to want to pick a fight for the sake of fighting.

I never said otherwise. Again, all I said was "why can't we have a SS like Young." Thats it. You mentioned he isn't a SS anymore, I aknowledged and said I was refering to his career. It should have ended there, why try to make this something it's not?

When that player is worth 2.1 more wins than replacement (WAR) for arguably the hardest position' date=' yes.[/quote']

But it's not 2.1 wins, because on Fangraphs, the WAR is only dependent on the RAR, or offensive contribution. A win is roughly 10 runs (5 RPG average, both teams score 5 a game - roughly). Guzman's RAR is 13.1 and WAR is 1.3. For Gonzalez, it's -7.0 and -0.7. Clearly both are 1/10, so WAR is offense only.

By UZR/150, the rate of fielding prowess, it's 4.0 to -6.6, for a difference of 10.6 runs, or about a win.

That makes the difference between the two about a win, over a whole season, and we are talking about 1/3 of a season that the team would want the player. 1/3 a win. Is that enough to take on Guzman's contract for next year, because with Gonzalez, they are free of commitment after this year?

EDIT: Nevermind, thought you were on the Guzman trip again.
