  1. Mine is Jacoby. I've not been watching Baseball for very long and I don't get to see very much of it but every game I see this guy seems to do something really sweet.
  2. Please Please Please don't load the bases!
  3. I guess we'll see how good City are this week as it's the Manchester Derby. Personally I'm hoping they draw with Man U. The way Tottenham have been playing recently they had a shot of taking 3 points off Man U they definitely had the chance to take a point .
  4. From a fellow newcomer to the site...Welcome!
  5. Yay! This season I think you'll see them qualify for the UEFA Cup or Europa League as it's called now. I can't see them taking a top 4 spot and getting into the Champions League though.
  6. He's just utter class, honestly don't know what we'd do without him. Newcastle are not in the Premier League anymore as they got relegated to a lower division last season. They will rebuild and probably come back up within the next two seasons. Newcastles fans are similar to Liverpool's fans in that they are full of passion, Newcastle lives and breathes Soccer, it wouldn't be a bad team to follow if you don't mind them not being in the Premier League. Fulham isn't a bad choice either to be honest although I can't see them winning any trophies anytime soon. If you don't want to follow Liverpool for fear of being on the bandwagon I'd say you're best with a team like Aston Villa. They play entertaining Soccer and have the ability to win some of the smaller trophies like the Carling Cup etc. They are not brilliant but they are not rubbish just like you want! If you want your team to be playing for the Champions League trophy every year then you need to pick one of the top four teams. Again Liverpool is the way to go! Everton made it to the FA Cup Final last year but where beaten by Chelsea. This year they have made a bad start but I can see them picking it up. They'll probably finish inside the top 7 this season and qualify for the Europa league. Overall if it was me I'd pick between Liverpool and Aston Villa! To be really basic and keep it simple, we have certain weeks in the year known as 'The transfer window'. During these weeks team A can approach team B and offer money (Transfer Fee) for a player. If team B accept the Transfer Fee, team A must then agree personal terms with the player (Wages, Bonus etc). If the player agrees to the personal terms then he becomes a member of team A so long as he passes a medical. No transfers can be made outside of the transfer window. The two transfer windows in England are typically 1st June - 31st August and 1st January - 2nd February. You can also loan a player from a team for a short period of time. There is no salary cap in the Premier League so a team can buy/pay it's players as much as they think they are worth. Hope this all helps and if there is anything else just ask.
  7. Welcome to the forum
  8. Ellsbury on fire again, his speed is outstanding!
  9. I think thats why I seem to be attracted to the Teams in Boston, we are a very passionate when it come to sports in the city I live. I'd say we are probably one of the most passionate around and from what I've seen and read I can see similarities in Boston. I remember seeing scenes of fans filling the streets after the Celtics won the NBA Championship in 2008 and it was like a mirror image of when Liverpool won the European Cup in 2005. I've been trying to get hold of Faithful by Stephen King for quite some time but with no luck whatsoever. Thanks for the book advice, I'll definitely look for them.
  10. The stadium and facilities will be better, but the atmosphere won't. I genuinely think with Anfield that the new stadium will destroy a little of the atmosphere. Anyway, every new fan/supporter should learn the history of the team that they follow. It took me about two years to learn the history of the Patriots when I became a follower of them and I'm looking forward to the same with the Red Sox.
  11. I agree with that, Fenway is probably one of the most known Parks/Stadiums in any sport. It's got a certain aura about it and that brings the atmosphere. It's very similar to my Soccer/Football teams stadium Anfield. Anfield is pretty old and only holds just over 46,000 people, but it's very well known for it's great atmosphere. We're in the process of planning a new much bigger better stadium but do I want to move, no I don't. Give me Anfield any day as no matter how good the new stadium is, it just won't be the same.
  12. I saw that thread and I'm used to a bit of heartache with my soccer/football team lol Being a Patriots fan I had to experience Super Bowl 42 so I'm ready to take the heartbreak lol It wouldn't be sports without it!
  13. So if we lose tonight what are the chances of making the play-offs on the wildcard? I'll be pretty gutted if my first year of actually being able to watch most games that we don't make the post season.
  14. Nice to see Youk back, we've been missing that.
