My tingle-toes have let me down for the first time in my life. I am sad. 3 out of 4 isn't bad...but we do need to win as many as possible at this point, so Tito, try not to have such a sucky lineup again anytime soon.

Time to hopefully corral some Rangers tomorrow.

Oh well' date=' we lost. If I had any inclinations that we had a chance of winning this game, I'd probably be pissed off right now.[/quote']

I pretty much agree with this. There might have been a couple times early in the game where we could have pulled ahead but really, Verlander lived up to the billing and there just wasn't going to be any hitting him today once he got settled in.

I think it was a good effort. There was no embarrasment to be had and Buchholz can walk away with more experience and his head held high.

Thought there might have been a bit of a rally in the 7th but it wasn't to be.

Nobody should be concerned about the .5 game lead in the Wild Card, apparently Tito thinks he has it in the bag if he's willing to punt games like these. Nick Green and Chris Woodward in the same lineup for a $100 million plus payroll. What a joke.

Nice outing from Buchholz, need to see more strikeouts but I'm liking the amount of groundballs he's been getting. If we give credit to Varitek, we need to give credit to Martinez for catching Buchholz's two best outings of the season.

agreed its phenominal that our pitchers somehow manage to pitch at all without him

Good outing by Buchholz. Encouraging. Maybe he and Tazawa will save them.

But once again, you wonder where Tito's head is at, sitting Drew and Pedroia at this time. They are going to have to DFA Papi so that Tito can't play him.

Its baffling that he would sit Drew against Verlander. Unf***ing believable.

It is baffing. I understand day game after night game, but they are facing a Cy Young candidate in the heat of a pennant race with their best player suspended. This is not the time to send up the light lineup.

yes I believe 90% of us agree with that statement.

Losing this game when you got a strong pitching performance will hurt especially with the shape of the sox rotation. You go into Texas tied in the loss column and will throw Lester, Penny and Tazawa in that launching pad. And, you are without Youk. Tough task, which is surprising they didnt play 2 of their stalwarts vs Verlander.

I don't think we would have won the game with Drew and Pedroia in the game instead of Woodward and Reddick, especially since we only had 4 hits, and Reddick had one of them.

It was Buchholz/Verlander, and I don't blame Francona at all for assuming we were going to lose the game. If I were a gambling man I'd have bet a lot of money that the Sox were going to lose. And I was against Youkilis not appealing his suspension because I wanted him to be here to face Detroit and Texas, so I understand your point there.

Anyway, I think the Buchholz start was very good and will hopefully be a sign of things to come. But we were 95% going to lose this game anyway, regardless of whether or not we had Drew, Pedroia, Youkilis, or a good start from Buchholz, and as such I couldn't care less that we lost. Now we have to "sack up", in the words of DipreG, and beat the f*** out of the Rangers.

This is why I wanted Youk to appeal his suspension.

Texas is playing good ball right now, so yes, it should be a tough task. One that will magically transform into an easy task should they win the first two games.
