He says that he is tired of KRod's act. Has he seen Joba's act? What a jerk.

KRod fired back pointing out that Bruney is a nobody.

"I don't even know who that guy is. Somewhere in Double-A? I believe he hasn't even pitched one full season. He's always been on the DL. That's all I know right now. He better keep his mouth shut and do his job and not worry about somebody else."

Asked if he was surprised by Bruney's comments, K-Rod shrugged.

"If it was somebody big, I might pay attention to it," he said. "But somebody like that, a nobody like that, it doesn't bother me."

Bruney is talking a big game for journeyman.

Mets pitcher Francisco Rodriguez and Yankees pitcher Brian Bruney exchanged words and almost came to blows during batting practice on Sunday before the finale of the Subway Series at Yankee Stadium.

Sources tell Newsday that Mets relievers were playing catch along the leftfield line near the end of the Yankees' BP session, when Rodriguez "got in Bruney's face", according to the newspaper report, and the two had to be separated by other players.

Bruney already is on the disabled list, and players were worried that the argument could escalate. The teams face each other again this season June 26-28 at Citi Field.

KRod should just have ignored Bush Leaguer Bruney. He's irrelevant. Any attention from KRod unnecessarily elevates the scrub.

I think that was his point when he was asked about Bruney. He didn't come out and just start talking about him...

Brian bruney sucks almost as bad as me, why does he have the nerve to talk to the Willy Mays of closing like that! by the way

God of closers- Mariano Rivera

Satan of closers- papelbon

horny sex machine of closers - joel hanrahan

So, why get in his face before today's game?

I have no problem with what Bruney said. He called it like he (and I'm guessing a whole lot of other players...didn't Huff once mimic KRod after hitting a HR off him?) see it, said he was taught to play the game a different way....so what's the big deal?

Then KRod comes out with a pretty good reply...the whole "Who is Bruney?" thing...but then he negates it by confronting Bruney before the game.

Fkn players need to get over themselves.

It was Joba Huff hit the HR off of.

But really, Bruney needs to shut the f*** up, his comment was completely uncalled for.

Again...why? Was it an untrue statement? IMO, no, it was on the money.

KRod handled, initially, just fine. But then HE escalated it by confronting Bruney.

Fuk 'em both then.

Rician, how is K-Rod's celebratory behavior any different from Papelbon's? I think you'd be singing a different tune if Bruney had criticized your star closer.

Then you haven't really been paying attention to his posts. I'm confident that he'd say Papelbon would be deserving of whatever comments his behavior draws.

I think they should be punished on the field the way Huff mocked Chamberlain.

Making comments to the media behind the other player's back is douchy and cowardly.

Just sayin'.

I agree with that. I think Huff's mockery sent a message that sunk in more than spouting off to the media would have done.

You know, watching all this ******** makes me appreciate the quiet, cool professionalism of Mariano. I've never heard another player ever say anything negative about Mo.

Of course. One of the greatest relievers in history just plays the game with no theatrics. A consummate professional.

Not at all. Papelbon's celebrations are sometimes (often?) over the top too and if any player had something to say about it I couldn't possibly argue...and I'd actually agree.

That's the whole point I'm making here...Bruney was RIGHT. KRod's celebrations...like Paps and like Joba, draw the ire of other players and if those players want to comment on the behavior, that is their right.

If KRod/Paps/etc. don't like it, tough s***...they can either change their celebration or continue doinf what they're doing and expect more of the same comments.

Mariano? You talking about:

the Panamanian Electrocutor...

the Czar of Zap...

the Emperor of Electrocution...

the Shah of Shock...

the Conveyor of Current...

the Wizard of Wattage...

the Justice of Jolt...

the Chief of Char...

the Victor of Voltage...

That Mariano? You are right, he does his job (IMO) the right way.
