I'd be surprised if this hasn't been asked before but since I'm new thought I'd bring it up again for myself. :P

Being in close-ish to San Francisco, I keep an eye on the Giants and the A's. I've never been a huge fan of either but if they're doing well and the sox aren't, I'll root for 'em.

Chicago Cubs are another one I follow a bit. My much older brother was a fan (family was originally in Chicago before we moved to CA when I was 3 or 4) so I got that from him...

What other teams do you follow, if any?

I tend to selectively keep an eye on teems where former Sox are now playing. Examples would be K.C. with Coco Crisp and Toronto with Kevin Millar. Other than that, I used to follow the Twins in the late '60s because they were in the hunt with the Sox in '67. Later, I followed the Orioles in the early '70s because they were so dominant and I became friendly with several of their pitchers from hanging out in the bleachers at Fenway. I have admired the Rays for about 6 or 7 years because they have had so much young talent and the games with the Sox have usually been entertaining.

Outside of the Red Sox I generally pull for the Royals and Rangers in the AL, and the Pirates and Rockies in the NL. Most of these are teams that have been pretty bad for a while now, and I'd like to see them regain respectability and get good again. I don't get pissed when they lose or anything, but I like to root for them for the most part.

The Rockies are my NL team, and because my father's family is from the Pittsburgh area I always keep an eye on the Pirates. Kind of funny because I also tend to root for the Royals, but not the Rangers...so I'm almost the same as msubulldogs, but for different reasons. I pull Rockies because Helton is one of my all-time favorite players, and Royals because George Brett is as well, and I would love to see them be great again.

However...I love baseball in general and there are only three teams I actually dislike. The Yankees, the Cardinals, and the As.

YES

You hate the Cardinals too? That is so sick man. I don't mind the A's, but the Yankees and Cardinals are 1 & 2 on my most hated MLB teams list.

What's the reason for disliking the A's?

The only team I dislike is the Yankees. Although I'm beginning to dislike the Rays...

Cubs, Braves and Marlins.

The Cubs and Braves where always on TV, so I watched a ton of there games growing up. I lived in Florida for awhile.

Went to a lot of there AA, and ST games. Was able to watch Beckett, Burnett and some others come up through the system. I have a healthy respect for their player development. And as a financial under dog, it's always fun to see them contend.

But in the end all 3 are a far far distant 2nd.

Outside of that I like to watch certain players more then certain teams.

Was actually watching the Expos quite a bit growing up, since I live right on the Canadian border. They were my NL team. I was a bit sad when they moved on. I still don't like the Nationals .

I hate the As because they are the single most boring team in Major League Baseball. They have nothing. No character, no excitement, no players with personalities. The closest they have to some sort of interesting person is Jason f***ing Giambi, and that's only this season. They bore the hell out of me. I know that hitting isn't everything, but they take not hitting bombs or scoring runs to a whole new level. It's like watching an entire team of pitchers.

From 5th grade on I was in Richmond VA, so I saw a lot of the Braves' talent pass through. And like BSN07 said, they were always on the tube. They're probably my number 2.

I went to school in Dallas for several years, and I've seen more games in Arlington than anywhere else (still not that many). I guess I'd pull for the Rangers against most opponents.

I hated the Mets for many many years after 1986. It's only recently that I've noticed that I don't despise them anymore. I'd still root against them in most any game, but I don't have the visceral loathing anymore.

How can you not love watching the Natinals fail at everything they do?

Because they're taking a team I used to love and making it into a total mockery. :(

@Youk - hmm, maybe that's why I could never get into them. :) They've had some good players over the years, tho. The last few games I watched of the Giants recently, it kind of seemed the same way...not a lot of big hitters but playing the other areas of the game fairly well that made up for it.

I follow and like every baseball team except the pinstriped failures.

This, and I don't even hate the Yankees that much, the only reason I dislike them is because their fans are annoying as s*** and I like to see them squirm.

Living in LA, I've spent the past few years following "los Doyers." I'm not a fan. I don't have an LA hat. I just enjoy listening to Vin Scully, the best broadcaster in the business.

There's a song by Arranmore, a Chicago-based Celtic/folk group, called "South Side Irish".

One of the verses is as follows:

We sing the songs our fathers sang

As they were growing up

Rebel songs from Erin's Isle

And South Side Irish pubs

And when it comes to baseball

We have two favorite clubs

The Go-Go White Sox

and whoever plays the Cubs

I used to really like the Marlins and Padres. I generally like young, talented teams and good pitching teams. I don't like teams with great offense and no pitching (Tex, Cin, etc), although they do provide some pretty funny games (thinks of Cin blowing a 6 run lead in the 9th inning a couple years ago). Oh, and the Nats are always entertaining... but not in a good way for baseball. Nowadays, though, I don't really have another "favorite" team. Some teams I like more than others, but I guess I just enjoy all sides.

I need a bona-fide big bat in the OF and I would like a solid closer. Here are the players I'm putting on the trade block:

Posada

Huff

Chamberlain

Burnett

Hawkins

Bradley

Please make me an offer.
