I'll go the unpopular route and say Jones gets sent back to Pawtucket, and not just because that's exactly what is going to happen.

 

Lopez will get the chance to redeem himself much past the middle of May. If he gets cut, he probably won't get cut until the middle of July at the earliest.

I'd say move Masterson to the bullpen, phantom DL Lopez and keep Jones on the roster. Or we can take Julio Lugo behind the clubhouse and beat him until we can put him on the 60 day DL and then just put Lopez at SS. I doubt his fielding is any worse than Lugo's.

I've been reserving judgement on Masterson for his first few starts because he wasn't fully stretched out, but if he doesn't start doing at least a little better his third time through a lineup I think he's going to wind up in the bullpen pretty quickly, at least for now.

I that would be much more likely at this point. I was only stating my personal preference. I think Dice-K is a solid pitcher. But his style drives me mad. I think he could be a very good pitcher in NL. I have stated this on more then one occasion. Add in Dice-K's shoulder issues, I say cash in and walk away from the table. They will take a PR hit in Japan, but Tazawa should help that eventually.

 

But I know fully well that the Sox are business men, and I'm not sure they would like to see there $52M investment traded out of town after 2+ seasons. So I'll put up with him.
