Don't you qualify into that group and the CDMO group as well?

Nope. I was born in the United States.

You are really downplaying some of this team's problems.

First off, Nady will help, but he is not a difference maker. Second, there is reason to be concerned that some of these guys will not right themselves. A-Rod has been awful. This is probably the worst he has ever been. Now there are a number of reasons why this might be the case, and one of them is that he is just slumping. However, if it is one of those other reasons, then we might have a big problem. Guys like Nick Swisher, Melky Cabrera, Robinson Cano, and Hideki Matsui (4 of the 9 starters) are too inconsistent right now to be sure that they'll be a big help as this season progresses.

As for the starting rotation, Joba Chamberlain and C.M. Wang are huge concerns. AJ Burnett and Andy Pettitte are very inconsistent. And it remains to be seen whether or not CC's injury is at all serious.

Kilo is right about a couple things. Things are never as good as they seem when you are winning, and things are never as bad as they seem when you are losing. However, he is also right that you use the "we'll be fine" mantra way too much. You have absolutely no substantial reason to be as optimistic as you are. Things may turn out fine, but they also may not. Right now, there is just as many reasons to think that things will turn out poorly as there are reasons to think things will turn out well.

From nyyfans.com of all places:

Go with the Parcells Rule, or whoever said it: You are what you're record says you are. Slightly better than mediocre. We improvise new teams on the fly each year to cover up for the previous year's weaknesses. And we overpay to fix the problems, but, since there are so many problems (owing to our stunning lack of player development this decade), we can't solve them all with money. So we wind up hodgepodge teams that are prone to fold like bad poker hands. And it's ultimately no big deal to most of the players, since they've already won the lottery.

Nice to read such honesty about the current NYY team. I have a co-worker who is in complete denial at this time. Things can always turn around....or not...

Kilo, I agree with some of the things from the nyyfans quote, however I really hate the last part. It is really so dumb, and so many people do it, to say that most of the players don't care. The person writing that has absolutely no idea. It is such a stupid thing to say.

LOL. When Girardi was tossed out, the umpire asked if Girardi wanted him to throw him out, and Joe said yes. I mean, the tape is pretty crystal clear and that's exactly what was said. It almost looked as if Girardi desperately tried to do whatever he could to convince the ump to toss him.

Funny. That's one hell of a way to "fire your team up."

Yeah, in his post game press conference, he all but admitted that was his intention. Girardi went out there wanting to get tossed.

Chamberlain was great. If it wasnt for his error, he probably closes things out in the 7th and hands the ball to Bruney without a situation to get out of. Regardless, a win is a win. One thing I didnt get was the Cano play. The Atlanta announcers were saying he was interfering, but he was right on the baseline. Not sure what they were seeing. It wasnt like he was in the grass or anything.

AFAIK both of his feet were in the baseline.

Not that it would have mattered much anyway.

no, but it should be something Jacko keeps in mind everytime he bitches about the umps being out get the Yankees
