Old friend JC Romero was suspended for 50 games.

 

Romero said on Monday that he bought a supplement from a GNC store in Cherry Hill, N.J., last July. The Players Association had told players the supplement was acceptable, but now the Philadelphia Phillies left-hander will receive a suspension and lose $1.25 million.

He's not the only one. Sergio Mitre, who was signed by the Yankees this offseason has also been suspended 50 games. He's recovering from TJ and isn't expected to return to action until mid-season anyway.

Pretty much, yeah. Although in some cases I'm serious. Like seeing David Wells in a Boston uniform was horrible. I thought my eyes were going to burn out of their sockets.

As someone who follows NPB, and particularly the Giants I think Koji would have been best-served as a reliever, but he really had his heart set on starting here and the Orioles gave him that chance. When the Giants moved him to the pen for a year or 2 a few years back he was really one of the best closers in the league though.

 

Also in other news, the Yankees sign Angel Berroa to compete with Cody Ransom as the utility infielder.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that the Braves and Kenshin Kawakami have agreed to terms.

Kawakami joins a rotation set to include Javier Vazquez, Jair Jurrjens and probably Jorge Campillo. The Braves could still use Derek Lowe or another established starter, though they do have the option of rushing Tommy Hanson to the majors.

Right field box seats. Me and my friends were shouting out "Sheffroids", got couple of glances back at us haha. Best 2 moments were the Ortiz grand slam and of course the Trot Nixon inside the parker (helped by Melky's D)
