Ken Rosenthal reprots that the A's have placed Bobby Crosby on outright waivers in hopes of a team taking the $5.7 mil he's owed this season off their hands. So any team in need of a shortstop willing to take a risk might have to consider this.

From another team's perspective' date=' there's no way I take on Crosby, especially with his salary. He has not put up a .300 OBP since 2005.[/quote']

i get 50% of all my baseball knowledge from mvp 2004 (not really). if you ever sim an a's season, crosby usually retires due to "ability" by 2005 or 2006. haha... i remember an interview with him during his rookie season where he said "i kind of stink in that game." well, he kind of just stinks in general...

Ya he has the stuff no questions there. His problem is upstairs. But maybe not having the Sox beat his brains in every season may help him.

Hopefully he does well in Washington, I've always enjoyed watching him pitch, he's so nasty. I remember a few years ago when he took a no-hitter into the 9th against us down in Baltimore....thankfully we broke it up, but it's just one of several impressive performances I remember seeing out of him.

In other news, Yankee non-tender Chris Britton has signed with San Diego to compete for the 7th inning role. If given a real chance and not held down in AAA or on that shuttle/revolving door between Scranton and New York he could be a viable reliever. Nothing extraordinary, but he can do the job for a team like San Diego.

minor moves.......you mean the RedSox whole offseason so far?

Did the Red Sox need to do anything other than minor moves? They moved a likely malcontent in Coco Crisp, got a solid reliever in return, and picked up another decent reliever from Texas. All that we really need to do now is put together the catching situation, and get a back of the rotation pitcher (Brad Penny).

If we went all out to sign some big name, I guarantee we would have regretted it later.

Don't lie, you know damn well you wouldn't have regretted signing Teixiera

Not next year, not the year after, but later on...

And earlier in the Teixeira thread, maybe like 3, 4 days (so 20 pages ago), I posted that I was a little uncertain if signing Tex is the absolute right thing to do for the Red Sox.

Yankees sign Kevin Cash.

*******s move. No other way to slice it.....just a bunch of D-bags over there.....looks like they really want to get the rivalry going in full force again.

Good cost effective move for Tampa Bay

The Miami Herald reports that the Rays and Joe Nelson have agreed to a one-year, $1.3 million contract.

Good for Nelson. The Marlins only wanted to pay him about half that before non-tendering him. Nelson is 34, so this could well be the biggest payday he's ever going to have.

meh, .308 OBP last year in Colorado of all places. Considering the money he probably got, they can do better for a 4th outfielder

He would not have been a bad 4th OFer. Good speed and a good glove.

We have a guy with his skillset already on the team. His name is Jacoby Ellsbury.

Tavarez would be f***ing atrocious if he had to play LF or RF for an extended period of time.

You mean Taveras, and he'd be f***ing atrocious in any sense of the word, since he is the exact opposite of the Red Sox philosophy when it comes to hitting.
